Hmmm dunno about 40MPG mate.
I do 50 miles, all motorway each day..
At VERY best i get 32MPG - thats sat at 65 all the way there.

Usually its a 90MPH (on private motorways of course) and that returns 27/28.

If you are wanting 40MPG, dont go for a Cupra or a Cupra R

You are talking at cross purposes, the original remark about fuel economy you picked up on was about a diesel.

Everyone knows soot chuking diesels are better anyway ;) :lol: :clap:
 
Got a pic this morning of my dash with 600 on trip and 100 on range. Not that proves anything I guess.

The conversation then evolved onto AndyVTR saying he may get a petrol car and still be able to get 40MPG when he wanted to. The MPG for his FR diesel was quoted at 55MPG so i am not at cross purposes. (just to clear it up)

Hence I said, dont get a LCR

AndyVTR - i'd stick with the diesel if i were you. The petrol costs are a nightmare, and thats on 100 mile a day round trip, similar to yours....
300 miles on a full tank (£50) is just mad.

Regardless of how you drive, petrol engines always use more fuel than the equivalent diesel engine. Plus, if you drive around all day at low revs, then you'll be better off with a car that delivers it's power from low revs - i.e a diesel.

Why do you drive a petrol then?!

I'm not having any fun at the moment trying to do 650+ on one tank where I could when it was just 600. I go out a bit more now through the week now I'm single...

I'll see how bad it is and if it cripples me go for a mk2 FR TDi... :sleeping:
