Not really a problem but I was wondering if any one else on here has the same issue as me. Firstly when you start the car it fires up no problem and when you put the lights on they appear to work as they should. But as soon as you either drive the car or rev it to exactly 2,000 rpm then both the headlights and dash lights get stronger and stay like that then for the rest of your journey. Any ideas any one. By the way as far as the battery is concerned it like new and I just started the car up after 2 months of none use and it fired up no problem whatsoever. Thanks

So the battery has been stood powering up the alarm /clocks etc whilst the car has not been in use for two months, ... it probably needs a little run to fully charge it

Yeah but the lights did the same thing when I was using it every day before I took it off the road.

check both the battery for low strength and the alternator for high output

Ok, battery ''is like new'' you say.. is it new? are you sure its 100%? is your alternater throwing a full charge into it? how far is your average journey?

the lights will get a little brighter with the higher revs as the alternator is then running at full chat

usually noticeable as normal but not to any huge degree

It does seem to point to the battery I will get it checked out. Short journeys about 6 miles a day there and back to work. Thanks for your replies.

this time of year with heaters going and lights on etc etc will drain it eventually

as a rule it takes 20mins roughly for a standard alternator to replace what just a startup uses so add other current drains in with the journey it's a constant loss

give it a 'good' charge at the weekend - probably all it needs but check the fluid levels in it too if you can
