Whoops, I was coming home down the motorway last night. I'm finally out of my running in period so I was enjoying giving it some beans.
I'm tootleing along and I put the Cruise Control on..
Then a bit later I turned it off again..
I don't know if I did it differently than I normally do but now the Cruise Control won't come back on..
I've not tried it this morning as I don't have any decent runs on the way into work.
I'll have another go this afternoon and see but if it doesn't work is there any way I could of accidentally disabled it?

Thanks Carl

I'll get the obvious question out of the way first.

Have you switched it back on, the top switch on the indicator stalk?

I dont think you can completely disable it, when active the acellerator will increase speed, then when released it goes back to the choosen setting,.

clutch or break will turn it off, in that instance you have to manually goto the speed you require again, then press the set button again.

my quick guide as the manual is pants,

1, to turn on cruise, - flick the lever to the left, goto the speed you want to set at, then press down button on stick, release accelerator, off ya go

2, to overtake, press accellerator, to go back to cruse speed, release accelerator, or use the up/down buttons on stick to vary the speed, pressing + holding seems to be better than a tap.

3, to break, break!!, this will turn cruise off, to turn on again follow step 1, without having to flick lever to the left,

I did 80% of my m4 journey this weekend on cruise. amazing mpg, 42!!

cruise set at erm, 70mph, accellerator presses to overtake vehicles when i caught them up, release again to float back down to the setting. lubly

There have been a few of us with Altea's that have had intermittent faults with the cruise control. Usually switching ignition off and back on cures it. Just had my stalk replaced under warranty. No problem so far. Always seemed to pack up when i had 70+ miles to do on motorway!

i think the stalk is different on a leon, but if the basic design is the same, there are two positions for 'off'.
the first is to turn it off, but if you press 'set' cruise will come on again.
the second position is off / disabled as pressing set will do nothing.

this is on a sliding type button, the first position does not 'click' the second position it clicks in place.

worth a check, but as previous entries show they are known to fail.

The Leon FR i drove the other day had an identical stalk to my Altea and presumably the same faults occur. ;)

Sorted it now thanks guys.

It was still not working when I was driving home but I tried turning it on and then quickly flicking the speed up/down control and it seemed to re-activate it.
