Is that right? My car has lane assist, but I just assumed the speed limit knowledge was linked to the Sat Nav. It just shows you the speed limit, much like any sat nav but there's no alerts for exceeding it.
It gets the speed from two sources, the maps and TSR. But TSR has to be enabled with VCDS type tools... I know some
Cupra owners have done that.
You know when you have it working since if you speed throu an area with a sign it's read it tells you, you have exceeded the "dynamic" speed. One of the fun things to watch in how it reads temporary road signs... obviously good where you miss them yourself.
The speed warning will only sound if TSR is configured that's exceeding the digitised speed of the road or what the camera has read. You can twiddle with priority of those. Don't change mine. It was an option on the launch Xcellence
Ateca's, as one of the packages, now the only way of getting that option is to turn on the latent software in the unit which is only in those cars with Lane Assist.
As I said the only downside is if you use ACC for latching onto traffic in front via the front radar, if it erroneously reads a sign it will slow the car down / warn you. Wasn't impressed with lane assist or ACC but love TSR.
Thinking about it the other thing that Leon standard head owners with a virtual cockpit could get enviase of with a high unit with virtual cockpit is it can show the map on both screens at the same time. It could have been that. Not enough umff in the standard units to be that clever. The maps get thrown to the virtual cockpit with the left icon and the infotainment screen becomes dumb in a standard unit. Could have been that.... normal next turn works the same as one without the virtual cockpit. It's the next turn screen that will get the TSR icon I reckon.... it's there somewhere once installed.
Pages from the manual on its use.
