Do you get the speed limit signs coming up on the driver's display? A Leon owner noticed that I did, but they didnt. It's probably something really small like that, but hopefully it's something fun!
That's traffic sign recognition (TSR) means you got the lane assist camera and possibly had the VCDS to enable it. I thought they were all turned off as they left Seat these days, possibly hidden hands enabled it for you in the dealership. Thread on the standard Ateca side and a resource on how to do it yourself with VCDS tools but can only be done with cars that have lane assist. It uses the high definition camera to read the traffic signs dynamically and can give you warning tone if you speed by a predefined amount over you set. I find it very good but if you use ACC to lock onto the car in front as the youngsters do any miss reading may slow you down. I don't so that's not an issue.
Is that right? My car has lane assist, but I just assumed the speed limit knowledge was linked to the Sat Nav. It just shows you the speed limit, much like any sat nav but there's no alerts for exceeding it.
It gets the speed from two sources, the maps and TSR. But TSR has to be enabled with VCDS type tools... I know some Cupra owners have done that.
You know when you have it working since if you speed throu an area with a sign it's read it tells you, you have exceeded the "dynamic" speed. One of the fun things to watch in how it reads temporary road signs... obviously good where you miss them yourself.
The speed warning will only sound if TSR is configured that's exceeding the digitised speed of the road or what the camera has read. You can twiddle with priority of those. Don't change mine. It was an option on the launch Xcellence Ateca's, as one of the packages, now the only way of getting that option is to turn on the latent software in the unit which is only in those cars with Lane Assist.
As I said the only downside is if you use ACC for latching onto traffic in front via the front radar, if it erroneously reads a sign it will slow the car down / warn you. Wasn't impressed with lane assist or ACC but love TSR.
Thinking about it the other thing that Leon standard head owners with a virtual cockpit could get enviase of with a high unit with virtual cockpit is it can show the map on both screens at the same time. It could have been that. Not enough umff in the standard units to be that clever. The maps get thrown to the virtual cockpit with the left icon and the infotainment screen becomes dumb in a standard unit. Could have been that.... normal next turn works the same as one without the virtual cockpit. It's the next turn screen that will get the TSR icon I reckon.... it's there somewhere once installed.

Some garages way of working. Frustrating. "We will phone you when it's ready"... means "Phone us if you want to find out". They tend to have a production line running between the front desk and the workshop, so basically it's not untill the end of they day in some places do they get onto the billing part and phoning people up. That last hour of work they keep fixed. Not all garages work like that thou, others are happy for you to come and collect.
It would be nice to know what that update is and what it does. Ask them. If you had VCDS / Obdeleven tools you could note down what the firmware release is and what it's moved to.
