Does this part of the dial cluster have a function?

Hi again!

Whilst I'm sat in the car doing nowt it suddenly occurred to me that I have never seen anything light up or do owt in this long rectangular section of my dial cluster - is it supposed to?

(The bit under the fuel gauge and temp gauge and between the speedo and tachometer)

Oh so it's good I've not seen anything lol
And more importantly means nothing is broken I guess, I wondered if it might have been a fancy trip computer or maybe relay radio info back to the dial cluster as I've seen similar features on other cars

check to see that it is working properly though... it should light up with a few lights when you turn the ignition on, and also when the handbrake is on!

Right ok I will do this when I pop out in her later don't think I've ever noticed anything in that box light up but now I no to check - I know the handbrake light works (and the sounder lol!) but don't remember it lighting up in that box - oops lol I'm not very observant!

Aaah so the black rectangles lights still remain a mystery! Hmmmmm.....

Just noticed on start up I see key lock symbol and oil light briefly pops up

Hopefully VCDS does a light output test for the instrument cluster!
