Hi,

Sorry to post another thread on this. But to the people that have had dog bone mounts fitted. Have you had any trouble when having it fitted?

I’ve taken it to one garage and they said they couldn’t do it. Tried emailing another, which was a vag specialist and even they said it can be a very tough job?

I have the version 2 and I’ve bought the power flex hybrid mount. Any help would be much appreciated !!

Cheers,
Sam.

I've had the 034 Motorsport Dogbone insert and I've had the Racingline Dogbone Mount - the insert took all of 5 mins to install and mine was done at the side of the road whilst the car was on a kerb.
However the subframe had to come off for the Racingline one, mainly because of the manual pressing into the mount frame.
Not aware of anyone who has the same mount that you have, but a quick Google suggests its not much different to the other inserts. But I could be wrong.

But did they specialise in performance upgrades? Unfortunately I don't know specifically as I don't have a MK3... but where I take mine haven't said no to anything I've asked for. Just varying levels of £££ (difficulty).

I still didn't install an insert on this car (it is there on the shelf looking at me and waiting to be installed as I type...)
...but I installed on my previous car, which was an Octavia RS MK3 (essentially the same as the Cupra) and did it myself at a friend's garage: it literally took longer to put the car on the lift than to fit the insert.
The mount is right there, exposed, and all you have to do is remove the bolt, fit the insert, put the bolt again and torque to spec.
The actual fitting part, using an impact gun, took me around one minute.
Seriously, just do it yourself... There is no point to pay anyone to do this work

Tought job? its a piece of p1ss. You sure they don't think you are replacing the whole mount which requires pressing out the old one etc.

I don’t know what they think mate. I’m confused though now. So when under the car you don’t need to press the whole thing out after you’ve taken the bolt out?

Really easy, you'll see the mount under the car, remove the bolt, put the mount insert into the mount and then put the bolt back in and torque up.

Right, so you don’t need to take the existing rubber out what surrounds the bolt? Just the bolt out? So don’t have to press out anything?

The only thing putting me off fitting one is that one of the owners said he needed a new gearbox after fitting one ?

Did they say the gearbox issue was directly related to the mount, as there have been so many many people doing this I would be surprised.

I think it was the YouTube guy your on about it wasn't the gearbox but the subframe that cracked. He blamed the insert instead of replacing the puck. Not heard of anyone else fracturing the subframe regardless of what mount is fitted.

I plan to replace the puck with a revo one gonna get a garage to do it. It looks like a really simple quick job you take the bolt out. Cut out the old mount with Stanley knife and tap the new mount into place with a hammer and some grease and refit the bolt.

If it was this guy @Aellis - check out https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/s3-subframe-in-cupra.446628/ he just dropped his YouTube link and then off.

I would not pay him much attention, This forum is full of people who have done this with no issues and a Gearbox can just break, unusual but it does happen, If you want to sit in a car with it done we have a number of cars at the next meet in Blackpool in January come along and sit in a car and talk face to face with real owners who have had it done.

With mine being the hybrid one though. Do I need to remove anything other than releasing the bolt slightly. Then is it just a case of lubing the insert up and pushing it into place?

Do I have to remove the rubber mount which is already on the car? I’m confused I really am.
