Ok, after following the opinions on here about the slot in a Mk4 being a std Double din and no adaptors/modifications being needed, i went out and bought a Double Din unit.

Ripped out the Alana and the tray.

Goes to size the new beast up and it won't go in due to the 2 plastic end clamps that the tray slots in to when held in place.

Also even if I were to file them off there is still no way to secure the HU in as there is no way of screwing it in and they don't come with Cages.

Any help (preferably from experience) will be greatly appreciated as putting the Alana back in is not an option as theres no radio code with the car.

As you'll see in this link they talk about it being a simple swap over, but the reality is is that its not. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62083&highlight=ibiza+double+din

they dont come with cages bit wierd isnt it? As you say you can file the plastic bits at the back out the way as me and my friend had to get my headunit it place as there was no room for the phono leads we realised after an hour struggling. Ring a dealership they will be able to give your Alana radio code with your chassis n.o, well we can at Volvo for the trucks anyway. Sorry can't help anymore.

Just been to the good ol trusty Halfrauds. They had an Autoleads Golf MK4 Double Din facia. Done the job just nicely. Only £15.

Leigh, cheers I'd seen them on CAD but thought a bit pricey so held out for an alternative. Good job I did.

So anyone else who buys a double din, you know what to get also a sharp knife takes out the tray locators at each side of the compartment.

got any pics of it fitted? would like to see how a double DIN looks on the dash..

X2! Get some pics up.

Tho it'll probably make me cry if it looks well cause i just bought another flip out tv last week. Took me two weeks to decide between another flip out or a double din.

Nothing spectacular. Really fancied the Pioneers P80 but it only illuminates in blue so wouldn't look right with everything else being red

No, nothing comes off it. There is some sort of code security with it.

To be honest, I doubt it will come out anyway. Its screwed into the surround and that then clips inside the dash. The only way of getting the clips out is by lifting them by hand and thats not going to happen as the cd player is in the way.

I'm still thinking of getting this even though it's only in blue, must be the one you're talking about

Yes, really fancied that.

I've always used Pioneer. Still have one but wanted the Double din for this car.

It looks the business but clashes with the red dash on these Seats.
