I am absolutely over the moon!
The optional 18" OEM performance alloys have been replaced with 17" VW golf GT mk7 dijon alloys and the ride has improved substantially.

The 18s with 225/40 Y XL conticontact sports communicated every blooming bump in the road and felt quite fidgety on the lanes.

Now I have 17s with 225/45 (mix of used tyres) but the ride is transformed! It is quieter in the cabin and every bump feels like there Is an extra layer of cushioning to prevent the jarring.

engineers spent millions designing the ride to run on 17s and it just feels right now!

I did not like the seat leon 17s as boring but I think the VW dijon look quite tidy. Not sure how to post pics on here?

You need to have 15 posts or more before you can post pics. And 'second hand' tyres?

Ye I got the wheels off ebay and came with 2 pirellis and the other 2 are budgets which have been replaced. Next pay cheque I'll look into getting some new tyres at least on the fronts! Maybe Goodyear asymetrics, cheaper than the 18s so another bonus there :)

Goodyear assy are pretty good, had them on a few cars. Had P Zeros on previous R , they seemed to susceptible to sidewall damage

Ye they look good, they are not far from the interlagos 18s from the scirocco. They were awesome. I did like the look of the performance alloys but perhaps on the 1.4 act with semi rigid torsion beam they just didn't soak up the bumps well enough. I think the tyres played a big part also

Absolutely. I've said this a few times here, the 17's work much better with the basic rear suspension. Better ride, and handling.
The 18's unsettle the rear and promote float on anything but the smoothest surfaces. Some owners are only interested in the look, but it really spoils the car's handling. 18s work well with fully independent rear end and DCC.

Yup, tell them. It will most likely have no effect on premium, but best to be on the safe side.

Definitely tell them. You'll probably find in the small print in your policy that you need to tell your insurers of any changes / modifications you make to your car. To not tell them could invalidate your policy.

What did you do with the wheels it came with?

Sold them. Wheel weight -4kg each corner, better tyres (PS4 instead of conti 5p) and cost me approx 300£ after selling the diamond cut 19" PP rims...

Good. I'm of the opinion modern sporty cars now come with too large alloys. I also downgraded on my Cupra from 19" to 18" and haven't regretted it, much sweeter in the whole. I would probably go 17" if it were possible.
Many more that share the opinion. Amongst others http://www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-fleet/seat-leon-cupra-280-ph-fleet/30967

I've been considering doing this on my Cupra Black for a while.

What 18s did you go with? Any pics? What size are the tyres?

Cheers

Edit - Think I just found them in this thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=433996

So are the VW Dijon 17 alloys a direct fit to the Leon Mk 3 (2017 MY) ?
Any pics of them on the Leon ?
Thanks.

Probably one of the only times, that an inch less is deemed better
