funny story from when i bought my leon. in the pictures on the web it had 17 in wheels on. and when i got there it had 16s

i didnt mention this until the test drive was over the salesmen genuinely seemed quite surprised by this but mentioned it could be swapped back. i opted to keep them as the ride had been just fine and wanted this as leverage in negotiating.

My last car a mk2 focus had 17in wheels and zetec suspension. OK i know thats hardly racing spec but it was quite a stiff ride, and while it handled lovely damn it did its best job to break your back on bad roads. have to say the ride in my leon with the slightly smaller wheels and its suspension seems just as good and a little smoother too. v happy!

Thanks. And were you able to use the existing bolts from your original Seat alloys? If not can you advise what new ones you got?

I traded in my Focus Zetec with 16"" rims for a 1.8 TSi with 18" rims and my experience has been the opposite to yours.

Many of the A roads in my neck of the woods are in a poor state of repair, which wasn't a problem in the Focus with its relatively soft ride. However I get an unpleasant jolt if I go over a pothole in my Leon, almost as harsh on my spine as my mate's old MkII Civic Type R :headhurt:

Sadly my Leon didn't come equipped with Dynamic Chasis Control, so I'm now pondering whether to swap for some smaller alloys; might save on visits to the osteopath in the long run!

how very odd haha! the quirks of motoring eh. BTW for clarity the roads around Liverpool are in a shocking state of disrepair. i dont think they've been fixed since the Luftwaffe visited.....
