DPF Assurance !!

I ordered an Ibiza Sport 1.6tdi cr a couple of weeks ago, eagerly awaiting delivery in"approx" 12 weeks. Since ordering I have read of problems members are having with this 1.6tdi and other DPF. I read an article last night by the AA, suggesting choosing a petrol if a town driver and not risking the hassle of incomplete dpf regeneration. I contacted my dealer today with this in mind and changing to a 1.4 petrol. He would not hear of it, and called the service technician in to fully explain the dpf. He informed me that under normal driving, and even in traffic providing the engine is at normal operating temp the dpf should not soot up, and therefore no warning lights on. If however the car is booted from cold and/or energeticly driven in town/traffic the dpf will indeed soot up and will require regen. Again when up to temp on the open road it can be driven hard to no ill effect. The dealership have had no problems with this engine, previous engines I was told did have sensors failing, this has now been rectified. They have had the odd few cars brought in requiring regen, he said they just take them around the block and they have reset. He assured me that if I had any trouble what so ever with the dpf it would be covered under the 3yr warranty. I am now a happy bunny again, and cant wait for January or whenever!

That is good, I have ordered my 1.6tdi and was worry about it a bit even though I do alot of dual carriageway driving I tend to drive fairly carefully so was worried it would not burn it off much.

I can assure you it's not, Any issues with the DPF clogging up beyond the level which can be cleared by a regen run as covered in the manual is seen by SEAT to be evidence of you not taking due care of the vehicle and therefore exempts dealership DPF regen runs and/or DPF replacements from the warranty.

I've just had mine done by the dealership, they said they'd waive it this time as my car's only done 1400 miles and is only 3 weeks old but it generally isn't free.

I wouldn`t have thought dpf issues in the ibiza will be quite as common as in the Leon.
The mk2 leon 170 has a pd engine which doesn`t run as clean as the new common rail engine in the 1.6 ibiza (and the latest 170fr tdi)

can you not simply remve the DPF and replace it with something else. thats why i love the 1.9 Pd engines, life was so much simpler then

I took delivery of my Ibiza 1.6TDi CR in Candy White on 9th October, complete with fully fitted complete body kit and 17" wheels. Whilst the car looks great, I have to say that I am not at all impressed by the DPF. It has come on twice in three weeks, less than 600 miles and I was not advised of any issues regarding this by the dealer. When I approached them following the first issue, I was told that you have to drive it on a motorway at least once a week to keep it unclogged, not really good for me as they have sold it to me on the basis of a lease with annual mileage of 8000 (obviously from this you can see that I do loads of motorway miles!!). My previous car was an Audi 2.0 Tdi and I am completely disappointed with the Ibiza, should have stuck with my Audi I think.
