From other Threads I've read, MY 08 onwards, Co2 readings are stricter, therefore you might want to check on predicted co2 output levels should you go down this route with a DPF-Delete, as your car might be liable to the new regulations come MOT time.

its 58 Plated onwards not 08

And its just stricker Smoke test nothing to do with C02

Not sure on that one, I read the new limit was 1.5, mine is an 08 plate and when they put the detail into the MOT computer it came up with the smoke limit being 1.5

Thats the Fast pass rate for cars upto 08

Basically if it makes 1.5 or below they pass it straight away, if it doesnt they take an average



Fast pass rate for 58 onwards now will be like 0.5 or something daft!

VOSA are pissing on everyones chips next year and introducing lots of new rules to update the 50 odd year old MOT test, 2 of the things that stuck in my head were DPF presence and HID fitment which both currently pass if the DPF is removed or HIDs are fitted but next year this changes

i've regened loads of cars with the dpf levels on or above 90% - its just a failsafe incase something happens but i'm yet to see or hear of one.

Yeh From Jan 2012 cars from 58 onwards must have a DPF Present for the test thats what i read in the VOSA Newsletter

Some people are under the impression they can just get the DPF "Guts" removed and it will still pass, it wont because it will still fail the Smoke test

You need VAGCOM cable or a similar tool. There is a thread at the top of this forum which lists some sources - you can choose to pay for the "proper" version (which is expensive) or go for a cheap chinese copy. I went for the latter and it worked brilliantly - was about £15. Others have had issues.

Kind of, you have to go into a "coding" option, then enter a code (it's on the vagcom website). Then you go into another menu and select some "block numbers" which display live readouts of the cars sensors for you to monitor.
It's not as easy as a big button saying "Regen DPF" but it's not difficult either.

Not a clue what they would charge sorry.

So is the smoke test different for a pre DPF car

for cars made Up until 58 it was 3.0 (fast pass 1.5), after 58 it was 1.5

Not sure what the new level will be if they do change it

Even with no DPF many still don't register on the smoke test.

I believe there are MOT changes next year though that require the DPF to still be fitted if it was from factory. I assume if you got the internals removed and put it back then that would be good enough.

I've had my FR+ CR170 since June and I've never felt the car regan since buying it.

Hi guys, the dpf light on my 56 plate seat Leon fr mk 2 (90k miles) has recently come on and with that the car is now in limp mode.

I have had my mech try a few things such as chemicals and regen but it had no luck. He said a long motorway drive would prob solve it but I did 200 miles and it hasn't.

I need advice on what I should do next?

I like the idea of removal and remap but if this is illegal or has a chance of failing the mot then I would rather replace. It was mentioned that dpf removal was only an issue as of 58 plates and onwards. Is this true?

If I go for removal and remap can anyone recommend a reliable but fair garage and an idea of its cost in the Surrey area?

I dont mind taking the car further a field if I would get a better deal.

If you cant get it to regen, get it gutted. That way you have the DPF in place for a visual inspection for MOT.
