So after we have all these "safety" systems that constantly distract us that we're too near a kerb when we're not, or not holding the steering wheel enough, binging at us as we've slipped 1mph over the limit, collision warning that shouts at you every time a car in front brakes to turn off the road, screens no physical buttons and menu systems just to adjust basic settings, it's now being mandated that all cars must have driver distraction warnings as well...
Good to know that if the car thinks you're not paying attention, it'll throw another distraction up on the screen to make you take your eyes off the road even more.
Anyone else think they should be focussing on the real issue of how many bad drivers continue to hold a licence, rather than trying to fix it with tech that never works the way as intended? It'd be great to see a mandatory re-test every 10 years when you renew your licence, or at least have a percentage of people renewing forced to do a retest. Especially around here where it seems at least 1/4 of drivers can't even hold their lane in a roundabout, or have the spatial awareness of a blind hedgehog in a bag.
