ok right coming home from gloucester last spirited drive really working the lcr , and felt amazing all the way till i got 1 mile from home some NOB pull out on me had slam on brakes then felt something came loose , then had a whirring noise first i taught shite turbo , switch the car off then on in 5 mins still whirring noise, opened the bonnet couldn't see real well being night noticed when i move the cambelt cover slighlty the noise disappeared , i close the bonnet ad coasted the next mile home.

this morning went out to take a proper look , oil is fine , coolant level is fine , vag com read no faults found no leaking fluids , but to my suprised the engine is now leaning on the on the broken driver mount :(, not happy bunny at all . i still have engine mounts of my old leon cupra wondering if it will fit ?

update car at my mates garage , good news and bad new , everything else is fine all belts , no fluid leaks but bad news is the bolts that hold the mount to the block have broken clean off :( , don't think this will be a cheap fix :( , and i've just shell out for deposit on new house as well not good i'm so broke i can't afford this

about as unlucky as me mate, had exact same thing happen to me :(

got it all fixed had 3 new engine mounts put in cambelt waterpump aux belt oil, fluids all done at same time as well as engine crushed the brake fluid bottle on its crash down, i was like seriously what are the chances of a engine mount actualy breaking off  quite hight it would seem :censored:

grrr

I had exactly the same happen to me a few months ago - same diagnosis (clunk, squeal from the auxiliary belt) and then really noisy vibrations in the cabin.

My bolts had sheared off flush to the engine block.

Apparently when the cam belt is changed, if the mount bolts aren't torqued up exactly right, or they don't use new bolts, this can easily happen. Although, mine lasted almost 3 years and 20K miles since the cambelt was done, so not sure what the actual cause was.

However, the dealer did managed to "tap and die" the bolts back out. Thankfully they came out cleanly and there was no damage to the thread in the block. (Although this gets more difficult the older the engine is)

They didn't need to take the engine out to do it, although it was "a bit of fun" working in the tight space.

I ended up replacing all 3 of the engine mounts and all bolts to be on the safe side as I don't want it happening again!

No, it wasn't particularly cheap, but was certainly a lot cheaper than needing a new block!

thanks alot really insightful mate , i wonder if my mate can tap and die ? i'll ask

Engine out and it seems the turbo itself has a few hairline cracks on the hotside :( , didn't notice anything while driving , but i haven't got the money to get a new turbo , little movement in the shaft , question is can i put the turbo back on for a short period till i raise the cash to get a new ?

Cracks are pretty common. It could run for years like that with no problem. If it's still boosting OK and doesn't howl then I would keep it.

does none of that boost fine actual slight over boost , it show 1960 mbar on vagcom but request 1800 mbar , not sure if thats an issue but who noes , but the cars drives great alot of power
