Can anyone help?
I have the most annoying rattle/squeaking noise coming from the passenger side seat belt/b pillar. It squeaks like mad when you go over bumps etc in the road, i've tried moving the seatbelt mech up and down without success. Has anyone had the same problem and what was the cure? thanks.:(

got that on my motor, had both windows open and it was driving me crazy. stopped car and belted passenger seat. no problems but had a funny look from a chap at the traffic lights !!!!!

I had a problem with the windows rattling which sounded like it was coming from the B pillar.

Try opening the windows very slightly and see if it goes away. This stopped the rattling on mine, the root cause was the window regulator needed adjusting.

All sorted now.

from a passenger in the front seat the noise is coming from the seat belt mech or something in the b pillar

I get this squeak like noise from the pillar on the drivers side and also have no idea what it is!!

I had the seatbelt rattle around in mine too when i first got it.

Setting the seatbelt mechanism in its highest available setting sorted it for me though.

It can still flap around at certain speeds, when i have the window open thought. Then i just fasten it so its locked across the seat.

i had put this down to the seat belt buckle tapping on the b-post trim as it only ever seemed to happen when the seatbelt was at its lowest after my son had been in the front.

I get the seat belt clip tapping against the b Pillar. The way i sort it is the run the clip as far up the belt as poss and the let it point back down and it will hold at the top and stop.

As everyone else has said i used to get the passenger belt clip tapping too, much better when its pushed right up.....

The thread title is misleading, i though it was about the old joke,

Man - "doctor doctor ive got a steering wheel stuck down my trousers...."

Doctor - "how does it feel"

Man - "well its driving me nuts!"

boom boom

haha. Nothing like simple humour to make the dreary weather seem irrelevant!

It had went a bit of topic there, it is not the actual seat belt tapping on the pillar, I get this on the passenger side when no passenger is present and is fixed by moving the hieght adjustment up.

The problem is a squeaking type noise coming from within the b-pillar, whether it be the seat belt mechanism inside pillar panelling or something else ii there moving, so is there any quick fix or does the panel need to be remove to locate the source of the squeak.

Thanks

I have this problem on the driver side b pillar Yes i wear my seat belt.
They ghave had it in the shop and confirmed its not actually the B pillar but vibrations from the rear tweater housing, Which i can belive listen harder.

They are going to rebuild the rear door interior so fingers crossed

I'm glad I found this post. I was going to make a thread if not. I can hear the rear drivers side tweater vibrating like mad with only low music/ radio on. It's in for its service sat. Can they look into this under warranty? It's very very annoying.

Thanks

The squeak/rattle puzzled me as well and I figured out that the problem was the rubber cushion pads in the door. It sounded like it was coming from ear height from the seatbelt slider but it wasn't. The rubber pads are in the tip of the door just below the window level. They're black and size is about 4x5 cm. The squeking/rattle like sound is caused by the pad squeaking against paint as the door vibrates or the car body flexes.

I solved it just by waxing the paint and putting some silicone spray to the rubber pad. It made the contact so slippery that it doesn't give out any noice anymore. You'll probably have to redo that every six months or so as the treatment wears off.

I had the same in my 2010 Cupra, I completely removed all trim including rear and covered all metal surfaces that come into contact with the plastic trim with duct tape, I also put tape over the fastener holes. This seems to have done the trick so far so fingers crossed.

col71 I eventually traced the squeak from the drivers side B pillar on mine to the door catch as it locks onto the U shaped striker bar. Sprayed with either silicon or WD40 the squeak was eliminated and has not returned 2 years on.( NB this was NOT a rattle only a squeak.) Hope this helps.

I have noticed that my handbrake seems to buzz a bit. Thought it was the centre console or the seatbelt clip but holding the handbrake stopped it. Anyone else had this particular one?
