can anyone help i drive a 1.8 20vt cupra, the car is fine in a straight line and round a right hand bend but when going round a left hand bend the car misfires and then only boosts to 5psi. then you lay off the accelorater and it fine. it seems strange how its only round a left corner.

i have done it with the coil packs any idea what else i should check.

all the small pipes in & around the DV, and follow the wiring round too from the coil

but probably worth hooking to vagcom in case it gives you any tips

well had it on the vag com and came up with two faults one was a n*** valve and the other was a abs/esp control unit. the car is getting worse it boosts to 14 psi then i hear a hiss then it will only go 2 psi. sound like something cannot handle the pressure. thhe valve the mechanic showed me was over the top of the coil packs.

you can bypass this valve if you uprated you boosch recirculating valve and that will solve that fault

i haven't got one what would happen if i do it with a standard valve

the n249 valve is a back up protection valve for the recirculating valve! the boosch recirculating valve is plastic and has been know to blow to bits! get the forge recirculating valve and then the n249 valve isnt needed any more so you can re arage the vaccume pipes to bypass it

cool will try this, i might try and by pass it and try it to see if it is at fault

try a search and you willfind a guide :) this might help :D

these are very old pics  but should be of some use :)

well there is 1 problem out the way :D  right the other fault was abs/esp control unit need to check the abs sensors on the front have you tryed resetting and clearing the codes to see if it comes back ???

i sujest you also get an uprated r.v too now you have bypassed the n249 valve

yeah going to get a forge 007. it said the fault was with the control unit not the sensors. when we done it yesterday we deleted the faults drove it again and the faults didn't come back on. mechanic said drive it for a few days and see if it comes back on

This probs won't help, but thought i'd mention it, when I turn a VERY tight left turn as in at a T junction, If I give it too many beans the TC light comes on and holds me back. Only happens at this one junction though, the road must dip away or something, so the N/S roadwheel spins

cheers mate, it does feel like the traction control is kicking in but its deffo not that which, is why i think it could be the control unit.
