Leon's handling is poo?! Whaaaaaaaat they're briliant and one of the best handling hatchbacks you can buy.

Id have to say its really average IMO bit of a tank. Its probly me cause iv come from owning a 106 rallye which is a awsome handling lil car, EK9s which iv driven have crazy grips all my mates will ***** out before the car does and having a EP3 which will destroy a leon in windy stuff

Air makes sense for loads of reasons mate, I'm finally going to itch the coilover bug in the next week or so.

I found I hated the leon's handling so much until the whiteline rear ARB went on, feels solid now and is a joy (maybe even over my R32!)

Which coilovers you fancying, iv just taken my V2s off which seemed to be a really good bit of kit, bit pricey tho....says me going for air:lol:

Iv heard really good things about them, i think im going to get uprated ARBs cause im scared if i dont the car will just tip in a corner. R32 is sumthing iv never been in, id imagine its more less the same as S3 very planted?

Derek, I know you usually don't appreciate any bodys ideas with back up reasons that conflict with your own.
BUT
A EP3 is a very well set up OEM car.
In OEM guise it has a LSD.
Before I got my car mapped I followed a very well set up EP3 around Knockhill all day.
This was mine with Coilovers, arbs, diff and R888's on the front only.
When I was past it I found it quite easy to make some space between us.

Not sure, I'm at Detailed - Awesome GTI on Sunday so see if there is any bargains.

Otherwise I am not going to spend big money on coilovers at all as I won't use them - I just want the lows and it to handle on B roads, I don't track it or push it enough. That's also why I got my ARB second hand.

So either a good second hand set or I take my pick from the 250/300 price bracket.

Unless it was a JDM EP3 it wont have a LSD in OEM state, the JDM is a better version of the UK one with LSD,20more bhp bring it up to more LCR type power, better seats and best bit champs white.

Just because you passed a EP3 dont mean leon handles better, maybe your a better driver? I passed scooby STIs in my rallye purley because i knew the road not cause my car was better. Sabine Schmitz passed super bikes, porkers so on in a van after all. In OEM state the EP3 is a better handling car having driven both cars it was very clear, its not faster in straight line tho :funk: Same as how R32 boys get pissed off because LCRs can beat them in straight lines.

Id much rather have a better base car to start with in a area such as handling or power, leon for straight line grunt, CTR for handling. Sitting in a CTR you can tell they wanted it to handle good straight away, dont get that feeling in a leon at all. With enough dosh chucked at a car sure it can improve in all areas. Its this idea people seem to have on forums that the car that they own or the forum is about is the best car ever. Course your things gonna handle better its got all that tracky go fasty stuff on it, id bloody hope so for the cash. Thats what my point is out the box its not a amazing handling car in the 1st place and with airride im sure mine will be a fecking boat:lol: cant wait

Bloody hell i dont even right that much for stuff i like.....slammed cars, stupid sticky out wheels, stretched rubber all that stuff that ruins handling

Thats why i got rid of mine as seemed a waste since theyv got all that ajustable stuff on it, so go to better use on someone else.

How easy is the rear ARB to fit, just a couple of bolts?

Yeah mate the whiteline 22 is on mine, 15min job and I just put it on 2nd to last stiffness. Pics in my R/R yu can see how it just bolts on, if you get one I will just get better pics mate.

I know one of my mates is running Racelands on his Octavia with no problems and I have been told to not get the Cupra R ones but the TT ones for the link hole arm. For the money and the next 2 years I can't complain one bit if I bought them.

Also i'd love Alphards or X5 wheels with extra poke ;)

Mate the Whiteline is £170 for the adjustable 22mm rear one.

Been looking at Racelands for what I want them to do (just more lows) - Also found out us Cupra R users need the TT versions as the ones stated for the Leon are wrong and dont have the correct linkarm hole (which causes the problems people have had with fitment).

Cheers that was a while ago when i 1st put them on, my new front adaptors have arrived so will be collecting them once i go home again. I now have 5 sets of Vag- Merc adaptors in various sizes:whistle:

I will be needing a notch when i get the air, even if you go down to the bottom on coilovers its best to get one. I can see a small ring on my driveshafts from when i had the coilovers right down:cry:

Just another wanky thing gota put up with on the mk4 platform..along with that rear wheel coming forward:rolleyes:

What width are they mate.. and offset, and how thick are the adaptors to miss your Brembos.. Ta :)

Front wheels: 18x8.5" ET35

Rear wheels: 18x9.5" ET40

I 1st tried 15mm adaptors on the front and cleared the brembos no problem. Never had a problem with clearence on these wheels, just erm POKE at the rear:banned:[B)]
