I was closing my rear passenger side window last night when i heard a loud crunching noise and my window dropped down into the door [:@] after removing the trim etc this morning i found that the culprit, the plastic clip that holds the window clamp onto the regulator had completely snapped off, problem is i can't seem to find anywhere that sells the clip or even a repair kit for it, the only alternative i can think of is to try and get hold of a compatible vw part or but a whole new regulator?

It is a well known VAG issue and you can get metal regulators. Trouble is you have either have to buy the whole pulley system or pulley system and back plate if you can't be arsed riveting. Have a serch on the forum for prices etc.. should be able to get a kit off ebay or your nearest dealer.

Like these but check fitment first:

Both my front drivers and passenger windows dropped. Shame its rear passenger cos i have a drivers front leccy window sitting here that im going to stick up for sale with a load of other items soon.

that is a damn shame lrac, the clips in the links are the same ones as mine allan, but after some research i'm considering getting hold of some of the alloy clips you mentioned, just having trouble finding them, last resort will be the local stealers!

my 2 door 98 Cordy has the same problem passenger side, a loud crunch and no window. I need to get a new regulator but I dont want to get another crappy plastic one that'll break in another 6 months. Does anyone know where to get them from at a reasonable price, preferably with the metal clips as I'm due to be made redundant very soon so money is gonna be tight. Thanks
