DS2500 vs EBC Red's vs Brembo vs Mintex vs ?????

Hi guys,

My brother in law needs to change the pads on the LCR (2005).

He stated that the Brembo factory discs are pretty much new (approx 5k old) but he requires just pads.

What are the best suited pads on the LCR's for day to day driving that give good performance and a long life span and a price that suits the product itself?

I've mentioned the following to him but wouldn't mind some feed back from you guys as I am still not 100% sure with mods on Seats all together.

EBC Red Stuff

Brembo

DS2500

Mintex

What would you go?

iv heard a lot of good things about Ds2500's from seat guys.and from non-seat guys iv heard red stuff are the best.so id toss a coin between them two

DS2500's here mate on the recommendation of these pages, never looked back.

If he's finding the pads are wearing out before the discs then DS2500 pads would be a good choice. I had these with EBC Ultimax discs and the pads lasted and performed very well.
They are very ggod with fade (not had a chance to get them to fade and they have been tested, not on track yet but will be soon), wear and cold stops.
Can't go wrong with these just now, not heard a bad word about them.

honestly i find the regular DS pads fine for the road, they work better at cold than the ds2500

on the track though DS2500 or 3000 are amazing.

i used 2500 for the ring, and we had 3000 on a track car both excellent

I'v just fitted Ds2500 on mine and they are great from cold and when hot, They've only been on a few week's so I cant coment on how long they last.

I had EBC Res stuff pads before and they aint that good, Given the choice between the two I'd go for the Ds2500 everytime and they are about the same price.

EBC Red if you want to cook your discs and warp them I'd stick with DS2500 - on my 2nd set on the front and 1st set still on the back and will use nothing else until something better comes out.

Another vote for DS2500. Got them on the Ibiza & on the S3 with no issues at all (unlike with EBC pads)

Sorry folks to be a complete eedjut but can I just buy these Ds2500s etc without changing the carriers and disks etc?
Roughly how much for a decent complete new set up?
ie pads,disks and whatever else is needed.Sorry again.Just find it all a bit confusing not really knowing what I'm looking for

Ferrodo Ds2500 are just pads mate, your looking at about £120 for a set for a Cupra R.
What do you drive ???

I'm looking for a bit more stopping power without going crazy!

ive just put mintex in my lcr only been in a few days but at the mo they are spot on, slowed me down pretty quick from 15*+ other day

Plus i only pay £20 for them

Sort of, Cupra R kit will be a bit expensive but you could go for a 312mm conversion from a cupra, they are normal style calipers and disc's but a little bit bigger do you know what size disc's you have now ???

DS2500 here matey!! Anything that says EBC on i wouldn't recommend, especially Redstuff/Greenstuff its all a load of rubbish and bloody expensive!

Can't comment on EBC pads but the Turbo-Groove disks are excellent.

I've ordered up Carbotech pads today so i will let you know how they are compared to the DS2500's i have at the moment (although the Carbotechs are about 50% more expensive).
I would still recommend DS2500's over the standard pads anyday.
