Car: 1.4 TSI Seat Leon DSG 2016

Hi all,

Been getting the dreaded "Error workshop: Only leave vehicle in position P" for awhile now, but its always appearing now rather than intermittent. Have plugged in diagnostic tool and get a "5116229 Gear selector lever park position lock switch" code... so doing some digging heard you can simply get a new microswitch which fixes this issue.

there are two parts a black and a white which i have found off KWJPerformance:
  • 5Q0713128A - VW/Skoda/Seat/Audi - Black Unit
  • 5Q0713128 - VW/Skoda/Seat/Audi - White Unit
Have gone to local VAG specialist but the parts provider can't match the part number to my car! Only matches Skodas and some VW models - now they don't want to buy it and find out it doesn't fit so will need to confirm this.

If anyone knows which part would be compatible to the DSG box of the 1.4 Leon?

Much Appreciated!

Thanks

Cant help identify which of the 2 parts you need sorry. But I did look into doing this myself a while back when my 2016 1.8tsi was showing an error regularly. Annoying as hell. Its been okay recently and not been as frequent.
Is there a quick way of lifting the DSG stick cover to identify which part is needed?

Yeah I have tried to identify it but no one has a clue! Only way is to open it up 😵💫 going down to mechanic next week hopefully get an idea what part it is, doesn’t seem too difficult to identify it would do it myself but don’t want to damage anything 😅- hoping it ain’t the white coloured switch they’re so hard to come by 🤯 did find one going for £110.
Mine used to be intermittent but it’s been constant for me!

The original microswitch is placed inside the selector mechanism and it is not a serviceable part, so it doesn't have an entry in the parts catalog. Even if you have a new switch, you would need to disassemble the whole mechanism. When this fault started to occur, VAG engineers saw that it would be a huge job that takes too much time of a technician, just for a tiny switch, so they decided to develop an easier-to-apply workaround and came up with those white and black repair kits, depending on the mechanism type. Parts catalog lists those kits for Skoda and VW models only but of course the same mechanisms were used in Audis and SEATs, so documentation-wise this seems to be a half-done job. There seems to be two published TPIs about the situation, one numbered 2051832, the other 2056031. Maybe those documents specify which cars have which mechanism but I wouldn't be hopeful about that. I can take a look at those TPIs and get back here when I have access to Erwin sometime in next week. Anyway, removing the top cover part shouldn't be a difficult job for an experienced hand and that seems to be the only way to be sure for now.
