When engine and box are warm, turn off esp, put in S hold left foot on brake, right foot on the gas, car will rev to about 3k but will not engage gear until you release the footbrake, perfect start every time
I think it's only the 6 speeds mate with the higher tolerance, not 100% sure, you can easily tell, try the above and if if doesn't free rev when in S then nope
High revs damages the engine, it's torque at lower revs that kills your gearbox. You've got it all backwards
In any case it throws the power onto the gearbox very hard.
Put it this way; even Ferraris come with a note telling you not to use launch control too much to spare your gearbox.

Yeah I get that mate, I was drawing comparison to the people I've seen smash the cars of the limiter and then dumping the clutch, the dsg have torque limiters I think and it won't allow it until it's warmed up.
As said this is my second car and it's not something I do or would do, can see the future expenses clocking up now
I think it's only ever been in S twice, D or paddles for me now I'm greeting old
I used to manual box all the way... Right up till the car i have now...
Now have a 2012 FR tsi DSG and absolutely love the box, cant find a fault with the thing in the first couple of months of ownership.
And yes the blip on down shift is very pleasing.
Not tried that launch control feature of the DSG yet, but as its constantly raining i wont be trying it any time soon
