Great to see you today :)

How was the drive home ?

CRD-3+
Drive home was great. 64 indicated MPG.
The Mark Map is superb until you get into town & turn on the Pedal Box. Then the delivery is far to brutal. Adjusted the pedal box to "city" & everything is superb. Lots of silky smooth grunt.
I'll turn off the pedal box again tomorrow (stop & start motoring) & let you have my thoughts.
Thanks once again to you & your team for the time you spent with me. For others reading, a trip to Stanley is very worth while!

Spent an enjoyable hour in Stanley this afternoon. Andrew is clearly someone who relishes what he does and is keen to share his enthusiasm. So a big "thank you" to him.
Far too soon to say much about the CRD3 box, other than a gut feel for the three settings Andrew wanted me to try (in the order he suggested):
1.1 - Definitely brings out the beast in the engine. The fun setting.
3.1 - Refined and quiet. I have no doubt my wife will vote for this one.
2.1 - YES! Also quiet, but you just feel it wants to fly. Leaving a 30mph area in fourth is a heart-warming experience.
Looking forward to spending time with them all and, over the months, comparing fuel consumption.
More later... but be patient.

3.1.......Quiet? Why,.. what extra noise does the engine make on 1.1?
Surely not that diesel rattle?

No. Almost rorty, like a petrol engine. Wouldn't want to exaggerate this, but it did make me smile. In 3.1, again without pushing the thought, it is as if there is a thin insulating material thrown over the engine.

But I am sure there is subjectivity here, in the same way that Andrew told me that different people prefer different settings and swear that their favourite is "the best".

I wonder if map 1 is the same as mine: Mark's Map. I love it. I have the pedal box too so have to set this to "city" whilst around town as it's too harsh to drive smoothly.

I too got the crt3
Absolutely beast of a car compared to what it was.
I personally think the 184 Leon is a capable car in standard form, loads of torque available.
This box builds further on this, when in the right gear it absolutely flies, can feel the torque building and really picks up speed rather quickly.
Perfect for the motorway overtaking.
Overall, extremely impressed with this unit

Any of you CRD3 testers who has the box on the 150 tdi dsg and what is your experience?

Yes, picked mine up last week. The grinning still hasn't stopped!
I have a custom map 1 which I really like. The acceleration is markedly stronger but the torque is where I feel the majoe improvement is. Grunt in gears 3,4& 5 is fantastic. Feels far quicker than a 184.
I also have the pedal box fitted. I do mainly urban driving so have it set to City Mode because in Sport Mode it's just too strong around town. Fantastic on the open road & motorway. You can alter modes fom the driving seat! It's a must in my mind if you go for the CRD3.

Anyone interest in a Cupra 280 dtuk box? Had it for about 6 months and enjoyed having it but looking into getting car mapped as I've since added exhaust and intake? If not I'll stick with it. Thanks!

Would mapping it make any more power compared to DTUK considering you've changed the exhaust?

I'm not too sure so was going to ask if they could run it on the rr and compare the remap to the dtuk. I thought that a map would be better as it will be calibrated and tuned to the current modifications on the car. Might not be like that but that's the impression I got

Sounds great - just awaiting for the box to be officially available so I can have my Trevor reprogrammed as part of the 'exchange program" earlier mentioned by Andrew.

Have you taken any considerations in regard of the increased torque vs. dsg? - as I understand, the DQ250 gearbox is rated for 350nm, probably can handle more, but I am just wondering if anything else is needed than the crd3 (like software for the dsg)
