Sounds just like what I had on my old trevor unit on a manual gearbox, 150 tdi. This i doubt will occur on a dsg as it detects the need for downshifting before running into trouble.

The juddering is a common problem with the box, especially when at low RPM and in a high gear.

Edit: Thinking about it more, I would describe it as "hesitation" more than a "judder" personally.

Yea i had it a lot on map 1+1 since switching to map 2+1 and now 2+2 I hardly get it. So sticking with that for a while. Not even tried 3 but from what everyone else says there seems little point.

Ive been running 3+2 on mine for over a year and it's my favourite map. Plenty of torque throughout the Rev range. And doesn't give me a judder

Been running on 1+2 for some days now, and there seems to be quite a difference betwwen 1+1 and 1+2. Must say i like this map more and more.cant say anything about mpg, but besides being quite fun to drive, the initial impression is that it is a bit bettet than 2+2 and 3+1. Will have to wait until next refill.

I don't like sport mode - too much high revs, it's really annoying in the city.

I more less always drive in Normal mode. Been trying ECO mode, but my wife complains that the car feels too slow in that - so normal it is. Also you don't have that annoying button light when driving in normal mode :)

I've been logging consumption since the car was new. Unsurprisingly, 1 seems to give a slightly better mpg than 2 which, in turn, is a bit better than 3. Also, again without surprise, +1 is a bit better than +2. But seems to be only a 5% -6% difference between 1+1 and 3+2, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. Not tried +3 at all. Very little difference between pre and post box. Usual caveat that no two individual cars are the same.

What figures are you actually getting though (mpg wise) when comparing pre-box to post-box?

Just a quick boring bit about MPG here so be warned :D

Drove to see family in Kent at the weekend 328 miles door to door, didnt take a great deal of notice on the way down as to driving style etc but did notice when i got there the average mpg was showing 61.7 on the display, So thought that on the way back i would check it out.

Brimmed the tank before we left for home the total journey took me just over 4 hours ( 4Hrs and 7 mins, if you wana be anal  ) anyway, we got back and i brimmed the tank again which cost me £28.50 @ £1.13 so 25.2ltrs or 5.55 gal, Which workes out at just over 59mpg calculated if my maths are correct i dont think that bad at all.

How boring was that eh

P.S. Setting was P3+2

About 50 - after the first couple of fills, never less than 48 on a fill and never more than 51. In a sense I suppose you could argue I am getting better consumption post-box than before, in that there is an irresistible urge to put the right foot down a little bit harder.

Good morning guys and gals just a little word I seem to be having some judder in 4th gear and pardon the expression but its starting to concern and piss me off a bit as this is becoming more noticeable about 2 thou + rpm not happing all the wile any body else may have to call Andrew or simon at dtuk as this is spoiling the system

cheers GHB

Hi Garry, you asked this same thing not too long ago if I remember. The boxes cause juddering when in low RPM and high gear, although it can happen in any gear from what I've experienced (very unlikely in low gears though - 1 and 2).

I think I remember yours is the 150 TDI? So I can't compare directly as mine is the 184 TDI, so unsure if maybe the 150 TDI's cause more juddering with the box than the 184's do. I got quite use to mine and stopping actions which would caused it to judder.

If you're concerned, I suggest you just get on the phone to DTUK and talk to them.

We just have too much torque as 184 owners we power through such juddering nonsense haha

@Garry, you dont half blow hot and cold about your box mate:confused:

One minute its the best thing since sliced bread and your blowing bigger cars into the weeds and the next breath your doubting what its doing?
Surely its one or the other
