Right I know I'm going to be shot asking about this, but I'm just wondering..

What all would I need to get the dump valve sound on my tdi? I dont mean the really crap high pitched whistle most people seem to have, more a vroom-tussshhh sound if that makes sense.

And sorry for being a noob about it too! Lol

i say buy one if you want one. Everyone on here will tell you, and rightly so, that diesels dont NEED them or its a waste of money, time and sounds crap but i for one would like to see someone fit one, even if its just for sound :)

I wouldn't want to spend a lot on it, as it doesn't gain anything bar a bit of noise, so the £300 ones I'll not be looking at.

Somewhere in the region of about £80-100.

What's the difference between those and the high pitched whistle ones?

Thing is though you are actually likely to reduce performance on a diesel with a BOV. Diesels dont have a throttle plate so there is no surge of pressure when you lift off the accelerator. By dumping the pressure in the system you will more than likely increase your spool up time because the system has to pressurise from 0psi instead of being still slightly pressurised. You will also confuse the hell out of the ECU.

Seriously spend your money of something worthwhile or if you really want to just throw your money away then throw it to me. ;)

Just get the back box removed and replaced with a straight pipe. It's perfectly legal and makes your TDI sound pretty cool clicky It will probably cost under £100 to do/get done

Iv got a full turbo back exhaust on my tdi, when liftin of the throttle theres a wastegate flutter from the turbo that you can hear pretty loud

I havent read all the posts, but my (Leon) PD150 was mapped to circa 190, with a green panel filter, and drilled airbox (cold side)... sound really growing, you could hear the spool and the "dump"

Prob not wastegate chatter. What most people think is chatter is actually compressor stall. Does sound good though!

Sure is ^^ that's the sound of your turbo trying to snap the shaft lol. I've heard of it happening but not on a tdi yet.
Regarding a dump valve though don't you need a wastegate to make that work? I don't think they work with a vnt like most of the tdi's have.
