I have the round seat key for my Ibiza but the buttons don't work on it and I wanted a flip key. So I went on eBay b bought I new set of buttons for a flip key that hadn't been coded into any car before and I also bought I key case to get the bottom section. I got the key put it together and got it cut. Coded it to my car and it opens and shuts the doors ok but wen I start the car it cuts out straight after firing up? Any ideas big help needed!!

You need the magnetic bit out of the original key. Its your immobiliser kicking in.

Pull your old key apart, and in the bit where the blade is is what you need.

Looks like a little plastic tube with a bit of metal inside. they are transferable.

Its called a transponder and mines made of glass. It de activates the immobiliser so it lets the engine start and run.

No transponder = immobiliser on = going nowhere!

Whip it out your old one (carefully, they're delicate) and put it in your new one.

Someone who has a picture of it???
I have a fob key at home so maybe it's worth a try

Yea if anyone has a picture of a transponder that would be fantastic. I noticed on my original keys there is a wee black piece on the surface of both keys but my new flip one dosnt. Is this anything to do with it no?

Ok so this chip is attached to the circuit board of the old key and I'm guessing there should then be a place to fit it to the new car
