i reckon i have only done approx 60 miles since this must have happened, luckily it has sheared cleanly enough that it didnt take a bite and smashed the two valves into the piston! No wonder the camshaft sensor wasnt pickin up a signal!! i'm going to call SEAT tomorrow and throw a tantrum!!!!! I've spent a fortune on coilpacks new camshaft sensor, new battery etc now it needs a new cam, thank god i did all the work myself or the dealer would be emptying my pockets big time by now!

It doesnt have full SEAT service history but has had work done by SEAT recently. I will see what they say, i think i've got a fair case! I still cant believe thats what it ended up being.

Hey folks, found out the problem with my car broken inlet camshaft see photos below if it works, where do you reckon i will stand with SEAT on this one? its only done 35K.

hi buddy, now you have me very worried, as my car is doing the exact same thing as u described, warning light on, slightly down on power and reving on its own, and spluttering, and sometimes the temp warning light is on, and then ok for a couple of days, however it starts fine everytime, i thought mine was the cat or lamda sensor, my motor has only done 28k, going get it in garage sharpish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear bout your car turbo, i would get it diagnosed with vag com first if you havent already, if it throws up a camshaft sensor fault, then i'd start worrying!! I think the main reason my car wouldnt start was becuse of there not being a signal going to the cam sensor, if yours is sarting ok i would go for coilpacks or maf.

On the SEAT s front, i called them yesterday and went mental, they said that i would have to have my car transported to the nearest dealer would cost me approx £200 then have a Seat technician look at it but i dont think it takes much to make the decision that its F@@CKED, then i have to pay for them to fix it £180 for the cam and seal and then labour on top of that aswell. The dealer would then put forward a good will claim but theres no gaurantee that SEAT will pay out for the repairs!!!! So i have decided to fix the car myself and just pay the 180 quid. I will definately be writing a nasty letter to seat complaining about how shocking there customer service is!

I think my coilpacks may be goosed....intermittent missfires, engine light on, occasional high revving...sound right?

i'll take them off your hands if you like?
