BKD 140PD, you have the option to turn the EGR system off on VCDS so I have, as I have done away with the EGR system but the emission light keeps coming on after about 30 miles. Iv spoken with the guy who mapped my car and he says it can be mapped out but I was wondering if there was a way to do it through VCDS as turning it off isn't working.

Don't really know the 2L engines well, but I would have though you could only turn the duty cycle down in VCDS thus the ECU is still expecting it the be there. How did you go about turning it off? What proceedure was followed. To correctly remove it, the software needs to be modified by a tuner.

I have done some research and it is down to your mapper to do this through the map he installs. My guy is coming next week to redo the map. Its easy to remove, You get an EGR delete kit to replace the pipe at the front and a blanking plate.
How to remove the cooler.....
Jack car up and remove the under tray, go under the car and look up until you see the EGR pipe that connects from the turbo to the cooler and undo the 2 bolts into the cooler.
4 bolts hold the Cooler on and there are 4 pipes that go in to the EGR, 1 is the water feed, 1 in to your heater matrix and 2 smaller pipes, 1 to your expansion bottle and 1 in to the radiator hose at the front.
You take all the pipes off, the pipe that goes in to the heater matrix you take off and disregard but take the plastic joint off the end for the next part, you then take the long pipe that is left from the pump you need to twist about 180 degrees and fit the plastic joint off the disgregarded matrix hose and plug it back in to your heater matrix.
Your left with 2 small metal pipes from your expansion bottle and in to your radiator hose, they sit right next to each other, you need to cut a bit of small hose from the pipe work you took off and loop it. The blanking plate goes on the turbo where you removed the EGR pipe.
Finally there is an actuator hose that you pull off just like your actuator on your turbo, just put a screw in the end of that to block it and that is you done.

Thats how it's done :D
