Atmosphere. I just had it running straight down to the bottom of the engine. Very little oil came out of it. Didn't see the point of a catch can on my setup.

John what power/torque are you running??

highest figure I had was 236bhp 385lbft (p torque) and with pretty much same spec the lowest reading was 221bhp and 365lbft (got boost old dyno). Sold the car last year. The new owner has had it mapped to reduce smoke, however I'm not convinced the tuner knows what he's doing as he has lowered the injector rate and up'd the boost  The the amout of smoke the new owner was saying about, makes me think it was a boost leak. But hay ho.

with the sh!t map its running 210bhp I think he told me and 345lbft. He contacted me few months after he bought it. Shame really as it was running like a dream when I had it. Was abit gutted that someone has taken p torques map off and replaced it with a crap one.

brand new hybrid pd150 turbo, mix of sfs hoses and alloy tube, jetex open cone filter, miltek down pipe/decat and centre section. pro speed rear section with down swept pipe. no silencers at all. Allard race pipe, blocked off oil breather return to tip. Oil breather just vented to atmosphere. P-torque custom map which took best part of a day. thats just the engine.

that hybrid turbo any pics of it or links? my turbo is still in good condition but i want to upgrade it some time next year

Engine pics on on page one of this thread. No pic of turbo, but it looks
Exactly the same. I wouldn't trust a hybrid on a old unit. People seem
To get loads of problems. These problems don't seem to happen with new
Units.

Sorry new to diesel tuning! But what's the main benefit of deleting the EGR valve? Heard loads of bad bits about them, just wondered why they are so bad? I take it they are a recirc valve, the same as on petrol engines?

Reduces smoke. Gets rid of restrictions. Easy to clean. Better flow rate. Debatable whether it will gain power but does help response.

You do loose the anti shudder valve, which supposed to help shutting off the engine, however I only notice a slight shudder when I turned off. Also loose the engine shut valve which stops engine run away on diesels, but apparently it doesn't work anyway.

For more info on deleting the EGR see THIS detailed thread, and MY build thread.
And just to clear things up, there are TWO allard kits available for the mk1 Leon and cars with matching engines, they are one to fit the 90,100,110,115 bhp vag engines, and another to fit the 130PD, 150PD bhp engines.

Just been off to take the pipe from the EGR off, and mine does look soothed up, but not too bad luckily. So taken the pipe from the actuator off, and plugged both ends. But has anyone disconnected the pump instead? Or does the ecu see this as a fault? And it looks to feed something else, but just wondered if it does.

I may opt for the delete pipe, but at the moment will just see how it goes with it plugged off.

For remapping it out, does it have to be done in stage 2, or can it just be mapped out anyway?

As iirc stage 2 involves a bigger turbo. Could be wrong, but sure revo said this.

A 'stage 2' doesn't involve anything specific, all it means is that your car is not std anymore, you have anything from a new air intake system (induction kit) or exhaust to new injectors or turbo.
The idea is that if you do ANY performance mod, you should get the ECU mapped to suit, but obviously this is not practical, so people generally only get a stage 2 after large amounts of work.
A stage 1 is designed to be done on a factory spec car only, or else you dont get the full benefits.

With regards to your pipes, you can remove ALL pipes apart from the one to the turbo, the vaccum pump and the airbox. (leaving the N75 Valve in the system)

This is what you will be left with lying around afterwards

Trying to retain the anti shudder valve though, well for the moment anyway lol

Shame you can just turn the egr off in vagcom :.(
