Folks,

Used search but only found Leon specific queries - my question is this: can the folding still be done manually? i don't think it can, i've tried to give them a wee push but they don't move. They both work fine, i was just curious as to whether the can ob over-riding manually. Any thoughts or experience with this anyone? (Pretty sure i've answered my own question but just wanted to confirm)

Thanks,

PJ.

I only found out after 20mins of pondering that they can only be pushed when the car is actually unlocked! Try that one....

too expensive for something that only really adds weight and is only of any use when you are parked up.

Nice feature, but not worth retro fitting, way too much hassle and expence

electric folding mirrors just a simple swap i would of thought with some wires to a button cnt weigh much more!

well I'll buy two sets and you can fit one set on mine and keep one set for yourself

BTW I'm free next weekend if you want to pop over and swap them over, I'll put the kettle on and you should be done just as I pour the coffee out

ONLY JOKING...................it's not an easy job at all ;)

what can be so hard would of thought it would be install a button in dash replace mirrors and comple the wiring enlighten me why its so hard

firstly the folding mirrors have a different wiring loom to the normal ones that doesn't come with them (scrappy job) (no chance)

then if you do get the loom you need to find out what to put where as the fr has no extra plugs behind the door card

also the folding mirrors are heated and that is done via a thermostat that you can't order and a different mirror joystick thingy that you can, and then the same thing with the wiring, it's all a bit hit and miss and soldering and smoke as they don't just plug in

but if you're feeling confident have a go and let me know how you get on, I have looked into this quite deeply and AFAIK it ain't been done yet

could understand it woud be hassle for nothing. if it was a simple strait swap with wiring and new swith no problem but didnt realise new loom ect was involved shame ! cheers for the help mate any way.
