Hi All,

got a 2003 LCR!

Always had trouble since i had it 6 motnhs ago with starting it....but not everytime, but getting more frequent...

it won't start sometimes, you can keep the key turned and it will keep turning over and over before suddenly after like 15 secs or so it will burst in to life.......bit spluttery but gets there....

If you don't keep turning it over for like 15secs and stop turning the key and then try again it starts perfectly, although again a bit spluttery....

Now i do have a 100cell race cat and downpipe if thats makes any difference....

I suspect maybe a dodgy battery??? What do people think?

the car is Vag.com scanned every week and it never throws ANY codes to do with starting or really many codes at all! Its also had its temp sender changed so its nothing to do with that..

its had 4 brand new audi coil packs so it isn't that either!

What do people think Battery?

And if so what battery do you buy!!!!!

Hve you got one of those battery testers? Just plug into your cigrette lighters, shows battery levels and alernator power levels.

alternator, battery or sparks would be my guess. battery/sparks will be the cheapest to replace.

i just had new battery 2weeks ago after it been dripping, if you do get one , get a heavy duty, better starting, espically in cold weaTHER.

Right...il tell you now its not the sparks either..

they were replaced the other month....

temp guage sender - as i said in my first post - its not that..

don't have one of the ciggy lighter things...where do you get them? halfrauds?

anyone recommend decent place for a battery?

I bought mines from my local store, for around 10quid, (few years back). halford sell some quality batteries with warranty

Here is some pic of mines , if do find one similer.

Igntion off - no key

Engine started

Usefull thing that you could keep for all your upcoming cars.

You can have you battery checked at some local garages, ,think halfords do free battery checks.

Check via vag on the alternator voltage on how much its charging for the mean time

There is no make on it what so ever- some unknown brand. should be able to pick one up from local car parts shop possibbly.

I had starting problems recently, and fixed it by replacing the coolant temperature sensor.
