Is it possible to enable XDS via VCDS on our 2011 Sportrider given it's got ESP which means it should have the ECU capability of doing it?

Maybe check up on ABS controller p/n variants on a parts listing to see if the versions with XDS get a different ABS controller fitted?

I think at some point in time there was one version for just ABS, another for ABS + ESP and another version for ABS + ESP + EDL/XDS - though I could be wrong!

Probably hasn't got the right controller as I think it's just got TC rather than ESP. Boooo

What's the best way to confirm for sure which controller it's got?

VCDS will tell you and also confirm, though probably in German so need translating, which sub systems that controller has. Next you would need to find out the build options code (PR-NR) for that option then look up a VAG parts catalogue online for the part number of the controller for cars with that option fitted.

Haven't had chance to get the controller code yet but noticed it has got an ESP button which was an optional extra for the Sportrider. Holding that now means it's got the right controller..

What's important here is ABS unit sw/hw version, check address 3 on a vcds scan.
I know for a fact that it can be enabled and configured as I did it on mine (Part No SW: 6R0 907 379 BE HW: 6R0 907 379 AF)
While you are there you can also enable HHA and/or TPMS.

XDS was enabled by default on all ibizas with > 100 hp, at least in Greece when I got mine on 2012.

Finally got around to checking the ABS part no:

Part No SW: 6R0 907 379 AK HW: 6R0 907 379 AF

I couldn't see any options for enabling XDS in Adaptation or Long Coding Helper and channel 36 for setting XDS strength is not available so it definitely isn't already using XDS. The car's also much keener to spin an inside wheel accelerating out of a bend than my old 2.0 FR despite having way less torque. Any ideas?

Google "Guida per attivare XDS", you will find a guide in an italian vw polo forum. Use google translate, you only need the first post. Your abs pump is listed as successfully activated.

Amazing! Thanks so much birdflesh, it seems to have worked. Look forward to taking my now unofficial FR for a spin tomorrow ;-)

Well the difference is incredible! I must have really taken the XDS on my old FR for granted as virtually all the understeer and traction issues when on the gas in our Sportrider is now gone. So made up with this, happy days!

My pleasure VeeFource. Another interesting setting previously not available is at channel 09 in adaptation and it controls Brake Assist.

Never quite got the appeal of increasing the brake assist as i find SEAT's are bordeline grabby anyway. It's just the initial bite this effects isn't it? Can't see it improving the feel in any way.
