engine compression

I've been reading up on compression tests on engines, and I was just wondering if its a test worth while doing or not? And if it fails what can u do about it? Or does it just mean the engine is ****ed. Thanks in advance

i wouldn't go looking for problems, if it's running fine then you don't need to worry. Only reason you need to start looking into compression is if it's running lumpy.
you will probably find the compression isn't exact on every cylinder anyway but that's expected, unless you've recently rebuilt the engine.

Ok it wasent that I was looking for problems, I just herd someone talking about it ans wondered if it was something to get checked etc, but mine seems ok so I won't bother lol, thanks for the info though.
