If I had the money if be buying myself something sensible and putting a TTRS engine and running gear in mine.
It'd be difficult to get right but I reckon if you could it'd be utterly savage and stunning to boot

agree, thing is tho the ttrs is a nicer car so why not just stick with that, or put it in something else thats awesome, maybe even a classic like a beetle or mk1 golf gti. That would be amazing

Definitely worth talking to JBS about the TT RS unit. Has anybody on here ever had any work done by them? Don't know anyone personally who has been there but I am under the impression that their work quality and standard is second to none. I have actually visited their premises before and it is pretty top notch! I paid just under £15k for my Ibiza brand new and looking at the price of the A1 Quattro that has been mentioned with the 2.0T FSi at £40k, I reckon I could still do it cheaper. An extra £25k will go a long way.

Ive looked into it.
You NEED a new gearbox though as the bell housing on the 7spd DSG dont match the bell housing onthe 6spd TFSI setup.

Statllers had a 6 spd DSG, 2.0TSI and ECU/loom that he offered for the build, so its worth going to him for the parts.

Bear in mind you will need custom intake, custom downpipe, a MUCH bigger intercooler, ECU, Loom, custom engine mounts, loads of custom pipework for the intercooler, rad, turbo coolant etc etc.

The car will be front heavy which will ruin the handling, but this can be negated by adding weight to the rear of the car. For instance, contact the vRS guys and buy their ballast weights from their cars. The vRS has 3 x 8kg weights that attach to the rear crash beam behind the bumper. Adding maybe 6 of these weights (48kg) to the rear crash beam could/would balance out the weight distribution and ensure optimum handling. Plus with the TFSI the extra weight can be countered with the extra power.

read up on the amount of issue that those cars have though. I wouldn't go there purely as the negative reviews of their work on the net definitely out do the positive.

The TTRS engines are fetching nearly £15k at the moment, such is their popularity. graet engine but since a TFSI unit will come in at sub £1500 you could do a heck of alot of turbo and engine work, make more power and still have cash left over.

ive driven a properly turboed 550bhp mk4 R32. honestly no need for more power. its spastic fast!!!

I was thinking of doing this myself just not going to wild lol i have a 1.2 tsi fr and dont want to buy a new faster car so how possible would it be to fit in the 1.4 tsi engine? Would it fit straight in with no hassel? Also how would i go about the gearbox Manual to a dsg? Too much work to do or a straight forward fit? My dads a mechanic and has done loads of engine drops for my brother in the past so labour costs are not an issue lol

Thats would be eaiser im guessing, the DSG box/engine itself would be pretty expensive, new ECU for the DSG aswell im guessing. The problem is the cost itself of proper engine conversions usally cost more than buyign the quicker car anyway due to the fact it isnt a DIY job.
