you pay 50000 eur for a car and they cannot make a proper engine cover, not only that but no word when a replacement will come, that blows my mind,
totally unacceptable for the VAG group and mind you, cars with these engines are of the most expensive ones, but I guess VAG doesn't really care as they have exhibited time and time again and I'm not referring to their cars, we wouldn't have bought one if that was the case, but the after sales of that company, nowhere to be found!

The engine cover problem is generic for all EA888 Evo 4 engines from VAG group (VW/Skoda/Seat/Cupra ….). This includes model Formentor with EA888 2.0 TSI.
I looked under the hood of a Cupra Leon 300 hp last week with EA888, a new car produced late June -22. It was delivered without any cover.

See late Golf mk8 GTI:
NOOOO!! You can't just come in here with your facts and ruin a perfectly good hate-thread towards the Formentor!! HOW DARE YOU

Picked up my new Formentor 190 V2 today and having a poke around when I got home lifted the bonnet and was shocked to see…an engine cover!
Are they providing new covers now? Mine was PDI’d end of June but not sure on its build date. Is the 2.0 190 affected by this problem?

Now there is an issue to be checked out with the dealers and mother Cupra!! The engine is the same with the 310 but I guess the turbo unit and all relevant components that lie behind the engine may be different and may be better protected or the cover may be better fitted. Only a workshop would compare and say.

Let's just be clear the recall is on the plastic cover having only eye-pleasing function, anyone missing actual sound insulation cover under the bonnet is definitely dealing with different problem!

this guy is holding the engine cover, which is being taken by the dealer, where number 2 is attached to the bonnet and acting as a sound deadening material.

No.1 is the actual engine cover which is identical to the ones removed and serves also mainly as a sound deadener, this piece is abt 5 cm thick and made of thick/dense foam material, its quite flexible that's why it comes undone easily as they say, its not the usual thinner abs plastic engine cover we are used to see on most cars, even on my previous Q3. The no. 2 hood sound deadener is still on all Formentors, or so I think as it is on my 310.

They started being cheapskates when they dropped the maker badge on them.

Now they making them out of wafer thin plastic that causes fires. Great stuff

I wonder if mine is a new one then. I’ll try and grab a part number off it shortly.

A forum member over on VWROC forum posted yesterday that VW have started fitting a revised engine cover to the mk8 Golf R (performance Golfs with the 2.0 EA888 engine were also subject to an engine cover recall).

Part number on mine, 06Q 103 925 L

Edit: Just seen on the VWROC forum that the new cover has white plastic inserts. I didn’t pay that close attention so will have another look, but I think you might be able to see one in the above photo.
My part number certainly lines up with the new part number posted on VWROC.
