engine cut out aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh

howdy peeps,just become a new member of the seat owners crew.went up manchester to pick up me car a 99 mk2 ibiza cupra sport gti seemed ok on test drive and on the 250+ mile trip back to the i.o.w.but as soon as i get it back it starts to cut out when i drop gears to slow down at a junction,roundabout ect.the revs seem to drop really low all the time as im changing down gears.when it drops below 500 it cuts out.has anyone out there had the same probs?its driving me nuts any ideas! i have checked the pressure hoses for leaks,checked the sensors.cud it be the dizzy cap or something can anyone out there help me.....b4 it drives me insane.

Most likely a dirty / clogged up throttle body.

Get some carb cleaner and give it a good clean.

could be 18/2.0 8v/16v really

best air mod is the drilled airbox - sounds quiet when cruising LOUD when not and having seen a badly maintained foam filter and what it did to the pistons unless i'm racing and stripping down every week i'll pass
