I think 3k is a bit too high - you're pushing more soot through it at those revs.
I've done a check on the soot levels when it's been doing it's shitty idling and they've never been above say 30%, last time I checked it was doing it around 20% which AFAIK is not meant to cause either stage 1 or stage 2 regen.
I've spent a fair bit though trying to get it sorted (with the labour etc) - replacement MAF, fuel filter, general diagnostics etc - even had the head mechanic take it home for a couple of nights but the f*cking thing didn't do it at all when he had it!. It never seems to do it on the way to the
dealers lol, can run like a bag of **** all week then as soon as it gets on the journey to its
service it runs like a dream!
It's strange though because I've had the
problem for a few years now and if it was something serious then I'd have expected it to go by now - probably covered over 60k miles since first noticing it. Been to two
dealers and neither can pin it down. No error codes or anything!
Luke - I found that when it was running crap on idle (but not at 1k revs), disconnecting the MAF sensor clip solved the
problem instantly. Obviously not a good idea to carry on like this, but might be worth doing to see if it's the same as mine. Disconnecting will throw up a light on the dash but will go off again once you re-connect. And yes, I had the MAF replaced (thinking this was the
problem) but nope - still a bag of spanners!
