Engine died!!!

Went for a top speed run (on private road) in my Ibiza pd130 (with custom map) Got to around 130mphchanged into 6th gear and the engine died! It lots all power. When I got back down to around 80mph I could feel there was a little power there but no turbo!

After this a turned the engine off and back on, then it came back to life! Turbo was back and everything was good again.

Is this my car, going into limp home mode? I did notice the oil temp was hotter than normal but not much.

Probably limp mode due to sustained overboost or similar. Common on remapped standard cars when run to the limit like this.

Agreed, ECU derated the engine till the air intake and or the fuel temp reduced - most modern cars have this safe guard, have you fitted a charge air cooler and fuel cooler??

try changing at 120mph most likely at peak power then, look at you dyno chart if you had it mapped on a rolling road. But re the problem it does sound if it went into limp mode. Also a remap wont increase your final speed a great amount, The standard turbo just not up to it.

Just saw 130mph in 5th. That's got to be around 4600/4700rpm no? Bit high.

I cant quite remember the speed but I had a run where I dropped my foot hard to the floor and my boost pipe blew off, which may have been at 3 digit speeds too on a private road. I didnt have that much road left but I kinda changed up and dropped it at probably those speeds from what I recall, to see how high I could get before having to slam on the brakes - the road involved has a crash barrier at the end, i.e. proper private road - and didnt fancy the impact enough to really push it
