A little update for you all if interested.

Goodwill from Seat UK £1000 and a service foc.

Leaves me with £4867.15 left to pay.

Car has been valued £6450 - £7500.

Wow that's a hefty bill. Can you not source a recon engine and sort it that way. Would be alot cheaper I would have thought.

I really feel for you mate.
Seat are totally in the wrong here and should foot the whole bill.
As we've already covered the part which has failed is not a serviceable item so therefore can't be held against you.
If the car had been serviced by them on time it would still have failed.
Nowhere in the service schedule is this part checked.
The absolutely horrendous customer service (as usual) are hoping you accept and that's the end of it, they know how difficult and expensive it is to pursue this all the way also without your car for a long period.
If this went all the way your pretty much guaranteed to win as they are trying their luck.

I think it is up to the manufacturer to prove that the part failed due to lack of maintenance. Have you contact the OFT, mate?

at this stage its the other way round, need to get a independent inception report done

This is appalling. Hope you get it sorted with the minimum ( ideally nil ) of expense to you.

You'd get a second hand engine for £2k fitted. I'd go that route, trade it in and buy something else.

[/£0.02]

The reason they're like rocking horse poo is becsuse they are poo.
A very good engine let down by this fsilure.
Much more common than people let on hence very few good second hand units.
Pursue them and win

I am certainly thinking that.

As said before everyone I have contacted know the issue and wont touch the engine rebuild wise.
