Engine Management Light gone off?

hi all

not having owned my seat leon for long, when i did purchase it the engine management light was on

the guy I bought it off told me it was due to the 100 cell race cat and the sensor not liking it as it was flowing too much air

drove and performed fine and got it looked over and it was fine, so I bought it

so anyway the light went out when I had the battery replaced a while ago, as it reset itself i presume...then driving it for a while, it came back on

so....

I had heard of a solution that the sensor could be spaced out, so I tried at my local VW tuner/specialist to fit the spark plug type spacer (from the US), but unfortunately this did not work (for reasons to long to explain)

now when driving the other day, the light just went off and has stayed off!

now the funny thing is, the exact same happened to a friend with his ibiza cupra, that the management light came on due to his race cat, but after a while it went off (and has been off now for a good 6 months at least with regular mileage) and has now fixed itself

just wondering if anyone else has experienced this....with the light coming on and then it just going away and it fixing itself??

doing a search i found a thread where a guy had successfully fitted a spacer, and this worked on his LCR, but luckily for me its no longer needed

Thanks

Jamie

nah once the light is on it stays on for me
if i erase it, it comes back on after 100-200 miles

spacers wouldnt fit between car and system and havent worked in all cases

map it out is next solution

speaking with Jabba this is not something that can be mapped out, as they like to keep most of the standard VW tolerance levels in place i.e. sensor readings

and it is only the spacing out of the sensor which can resolve this issue....or at least thats what I thought

unless someone else can confirm about mapping it out?

luckily for me, its now off, and hopefully staying off:D

unfortunately
you have been told wrong, and i was going to get jabba to do a custom stage 2 map, but if they told you that i would have lost alot of confidence myself.

many stage 2 maps (revo, APR) remove the secondary lamda sensor from reporting its readings. They are designed this way as you need a turbo back sports exhuast FOR stage 2. By getting stage 2 mapped the engine light will not come back on.
