If your DV isnt holding the vacuum then its escaping through one of the other ports, which I wouldnt imagine would cause your whistling noise, but if the vacuum can be lost by air passing through just under the spring pressure, whats your charge pressure going to be doing, which I would imagine could cause a whistling under boost.

Get the old DV serviced and operating properly and who knows, could well be the problem.

:lol:Im on a friday night bender so bare with me:lol:

my old man (rocket ron) had a forge 007p on his LC .. he fitted it and wasnt happy with how it sounded so he took it apart and turned the gubbins around ??? ive not got one yet so dunno what he did lol how old is the valve ? you could try a service kit or look at the actuator for holdin pressure ... As i say im on a bit of bender:cartman: celebratin paperwork finalisation on LC :) ill log on in the morning when my engine head is back on but i think what I typed makes sence

serviced dv, changed split pipe under inlet manny... fault code gone

whistling under load still there.

grrh.

thinking

inlet manny gasket
or tensioner pulleys now

anyone any more ideas?

best way to diagnose a split inlet manny gasket??

fathers made that sort of noise ! is it the carbon filters ?
to pin point to exact where abouts of the noise can i suggest a small child or migit adult strapped into the engine bay and take it for a blast ?:cartman:

I had a problem similar to this, and finally found out the culprit yesterday.

When boosting hard, the car would sound normal to a point (i can only assume being a certain boost pressure) and then start making a deflated whistling/squealing noise.

Found the culprit to be a split vacuum hose. couldn't tell you the name of it but it was under the inlet manifold (i think thats what its called) right next the oil dipstick.

James, did you replace the three O rings when servicing the DV. I had an issue where i just replaced the piston and regreased the valve and it passed the FORGE test, but it was still leaking during a pressurised test of the boost sytem. I replaced the three O rings and all was good.

yes mate, replaced the o rings and the piston then regreased. dv response is better, but whininh is still there.......and getting louder now.
