hi guys, yesterday after some serious heavy rain the car went into limp mode with the EPC light on and P1639-35-00, initially I thought pedal needed replaced, but the more I searched I found it could be water in the plugs or ECU under the scuttle panel, so today I stripped it all out and sure enough the whole area was soaked, the plugs under the back plastic cover were all beaded with water, the foam seal around it was soaked, and the ECU plugs had water around them, after putting it all back together and covering the terminals and plugs with dialectric grease it seems to be fine now.
my question is there is the orangy coloured foam material under there which looks to be breaking up with bits of it all over and the rest of it was completely saturated, so bad I could wring it out and get about a litre of water at least from it. I've ripped it out as it deffo isnt doing the car any favours, do I really need this there? or is there a tip or trick to keep the water out of this area or is it just a case of keeping it clear so it can drain away?
