This is more a question than an observation ...
With this problem the EPC light doesn't come on and I don't think any faults are being logged ... according to a bloke who programmed a new key in for me a few months ago.
Is it possible that it is the engine coolant sensor that "sticks" sometimes? Would this log a fault if it did? Would the EPC light come on?
Just a thought - I'll leave the answers to the techies on here.
