My wife and I have decided that we are going to get Leon fr tdi in the next month or two as our next car but this worries me and puts me off.

What i've been looking at is 2006/2007 models with under 50k and full Seat history. Is there a specific milege band that these usually fail in or could it be anytime?

Is the replacement pumps that they use modified so that the same problem doesn't occur again?

Would Seat still stump up some of the cost even if i'd only owned it for a short period but had full Seat history?

All the other cars that we considered were from the VAG stable and had the 2.0 tdi engine so we could come across this problem whatever we buy or is it just the Golf 5 platform?

I think if we do buy a Leon which i've really made my mind up about then we will have to make sure it's been replaced already.

Sorry about all the questions:redface:

Cheers

Looks like I've just hit this problem too. My warning light came on yesterday. The car is booked in next week so we'll see what is what.

McDubber1, had my car from new, March 1st 2007, always serviced by SEAT. Mileage wise, I have 39200'ish on the clock. My particulate sensor thing went late March and now this. I'm not impressed. I've had SEATs since 1997, but never any sort of expense like this before. It doesn't help that I put a new tyre on today and the car is having its 40000 service next week - going 2 be an expensive month.

My light is on now too :help:

Local Seat dealer won't help, Seat UK won't help.

Car is 4 years old with 2 sevices carried out at independant garages before i bought it :(

Looks like i will have to remove it myself and send it away for reconditioning.

Any advice / tips in removing or more importantly bleeding the system afterwards ?

I also understand that it needs coding - but am i right that any VAGCOM equipped garage could do this ?

thanks for any help ;)

Just been told I have the same issue... Along with needing an injector and a few other pieces.

Total is £1674, and that dones't include the 4 new tyres, 50k service and cam belt change that are all due.

My car in on an 07, so it's just outside warranty!
It's a 2.0TDi FR. Not sure on tyres yet. Was reading up on some advice here and people seem to like the Falkens. I should be able to get all 4 corner fitted for about 420?

Not too sure in all honesty

Update on mine...

Liverpool SEAT sorted out my car. Original price was £1674 for multiple issues.

I had 70% of the pump and labour paid for, and 35% of the injector issue paid for. Paid £562 in the end.

afternoon all,

i had the dreaded ESP light come on (2007 Altea SE 2.0TDI) which as expected was the g201 brake sensor. i was quoted £1115 + labour. car is 7 months out of warranty but has full seat service history and 31K on the clock. i asked the dealer to put in a good will gesture. it took a whole month to get a reply but Seat have agreed to pay 100% of the cost of the part and 50% labour. final cost to me under £100.
