ESP Switch Stuck - Removal - Not Working, seeking advice

Hello folks.
The ESP switch in the transmission tunnel (by the petrol flap release switch) is stuck - it just won't budge at all. Pressing it has no effect on switching on/off the ESP (does not light up in dash)
There is no movement on the button at all.
Is this a simple fix? I have searched but can't find anything on the matter.

EDIT: I'm guessing as it's just plastic that something inside may have just snapped off such as a lug or suchlike

same happened to mine ! and don't fear !!!!!

there is a metal spring type switch that will of come detached ! take the switch out and take apart the switch ! you will see what has happened .
a simple enough fix !

Right, couldn't wait till tomorrow so just been out!
Took the switch out & unplugged it, took switch apart and.............there is no spring!!!

I reckon the geezer that had it before me had a go & lost it, not bothering to fix it!
No, I didn't lose the spring, did it VERY carefully!
I'll pop into local stealers tomorrow after work then update!

Sorry just a quick question - anyone know the price of an ESP switch? I'm guessing it'll be overpriced from the dealer as there is a tiny circuit board in there.

I know I could just buy a spring that fits from a local hardware type shop but it appears one of the white plastic lugs inside is bent, so not allowing the switch to move freely.

i bought a new one ! put it in and then attacked mine and found the prob ! mine cost about £25 ish , you can have my spare one that i fixed for £10 if you want ?
i live in derby if you want to nip up ?

Thanks for the offer andymac - unfortunately I've only just got back from work so it's too late...I popped in to stealers on the way home & ordered it!

I'll get in touch with the place I bought the car from as they may well pay for it as it's still in warranty.

Picked up my switch from stealers, then fitted it when I got in from work, works a treat!
Only thing is it says "TCS" instead of "ESP"!!! Oh well, never mind, I'll just think of it as a mod!

Still, it must be double bonus day today...I got home to find my pre-order copy StreetFighter IV lying on the porch floor - a whole day early! Ha-do-ken!

gonna take it to stealers as its still in warranty.

Sorry for the late reply peeps.

Yeah mine just popped out, pretty straightforward.

1. Just use a THIN, flat screwdriver to prise out the switch housing, not just the actual switch itself, but the housing which is the part around the switch, it sits flush with the plastic of the transmission tunnel. Be careful not to scratch the plastic though.

2. Then just pull out the switch from the housing. It'll make perfect sense when you actually see it.

3. Once popped out be careful not to let the plug with the wiring loom fall back in to the aperture, it's no problem if it does as you can get it back out with some tweezers, it's just a bit fiddly (I know!)

4. Then just replace with the new switch & that's it!

Make sure your key is out of the ignition to be on the safe side (I'm no expert but I don't think you need to disconnect the battery, at least I didn't anyway!)

I think I may have waffled on a bit there, but it's honestly nothing more than a 5 min job!
I've just gone in to detail for anyone who is a completely numpty like me & for future reference for other numpties!
