I bought my Cupra Sport about 4 months ago, its never seemed quite right and I has a spare few quid so stuck it into the Seat dealers in Camberly for them to take a look at it.. well. They have now advised me not to drive the car for the following reasons...

The crank damper puller is buckled and requires a new one at a cost of £260 just for the pulley andother 30 quid for the V pulley and a few quid for the bolts. then they tell me that the power steering pump is leaking and needs replacing at a cost of £215 all this plus VAT and then another £100 quid for them to fit it.. so a £700 bill and they still have not looked at the problem that it originally went it for... Now I have seen the pulley and it does seem to look like its not on right adn the fluid tank for the power steering is empty but not fluid on the floor...

Can anyone help me source these parts but not at stupid Seat prices.. I would pay less for these items for my Skyline...

Thanks

Ah well. looks like the car will be going for sale as they both tell me that they are Seat supplied items only...

Did you tell them the engine code. I have lots of problems with GSF as they dont list seat bits.

They probably do have what you are looking for if you give them the engine code as your engine was fitted to a vw golf and the engine and ancillary parts will be the same.

I always have to do that with my tdi, ie i wanted an oil sump pan, told them 1998 ibiza tdi and they said they didnt stock it. then told them engine code AHU and they found one in stock straight away.

Hope this helps, maybe you already did this, if so sorry if patronising you! :)

Yup agree, try lookin for the same parts that come from the golf. Often when i use GSF it doesnt have Seat parts but when using the engine code and with some useful help from the guys there we manage to work out the parts.

Well it gets even better... bough the bits at a huge cost.. thought I would do the work myself... not that I am very good with the spanners but can undo a nut if I need to... got it round my mates house... jacked the car up, took the wheel off, removed the the inner trim to get at the pulleys... once all that was done both myself and my mate looked in disbelief at the so called experts at the Seat garage, as the front V pulley with the belt to the PS pump was in fact as they said warped or not put on straight. but the Cam belt pulley was as straight as the day it was made and put on the car, so we thought we would replace the Vpulley, but bugger me... one of the alun key bolts had rounded and we could not in anyway get it off without having to take the whole cam pulley off and drilling it.. so we made the call that the cam pulley was ok and the PS was working so there was no need to do that just yet .. but if I had not decided to do it myself and just said "yes" to the dealer they would have seen me off for neary £700 for work that was not required.... WTF is all that about....

Still dont expect that sort of treatment from a main dealer... regardless of the car...
