Sorry to open up another thread as can see it has been discussed a few times the past couple of year, but with Tyre technology improving and some of the not so known manufacturers moving up the ranks then what is the best tyre currently available that suits the Exeo?
About to tyre the car and after a bit of reading I am leaning towards putting
Dunlop Sportmaxx RT's on the car. If the figures are correct then they certainly look to be one of the quietest 225/40/18's available and have a pretty decent Dry/Wet score in reviews, does anyone have these fitted?
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Ass 2's certainly seem to keep everyone happy but with a launch date of over 4 years ago, is this still the tyre of choice?

My 143ST has Tigar Syneris on the front - on when I bought it 2 months ago - nearly new tyres.

They are dreadful so do not recommend those - Had to put a new one on the rear, and it was a goodyear F1 ass2 - seem to get good reviews. - It was £93 fitted at my local tyre place for a 225/45/17.

The Tigars are so bad, any power used when cornering in the wet and the tyres start to lose traction - even gently in 3rd gear.

They are noisy, have an F rating on rolling resistance, so costing me a bit on fuel too and tramline like crazy.

I'll see how long I can tolerate them, but saving up for decent rubber.

I'm heading to putting the Eagle F1s on my next change. There was a tyre thread discussed not long ago with the tail end of the posts being recent.

I've only done minimal mileage on a new set of Eagle F1s. I'll report back once they are bedded in a bit more.

I ran the standard fit Bridgestones from 3.5k on the odo and replaced two at 14.5k. The new tyres are on the rear and it does feel more grippy around sweeping bends (could just be new tyres tho!). I have noticed bumps in the road result in less rear suspension noise (Exeo's are pretty refined anyway).

I am planning on swapping the fronts (old rears, Bridgestone) to Eagle F1s once ready (they're just under 5mm atm).

I've done about a week's worth of miles on the Eagles and can't fault them. They feel more sticky than the bridgestones, I find I am throwing the car around bends and the rear just feels much more planted than the sensation I am getting from the front.

I didn't get this before when I was running Bridgestone on all 4. Not sure if the bridgestone are a harder compound hence the grippy-er feel from the Eagles?. Time will tell in terms of mileage I guess. But right now I will be replacing the fronts with Eagles so a recommendation from me.

The Bridge. are indeed a harder compound, Doubtful the Eagles will cover as many mile's but shouldn't be much in it..

I'm near the end of my Goodyear eagle asymmetric 2's and I have so far managed 13k out of them on the front so far. The outside edges are wearing both tyres. This happened to the original Bridgestone as well. It seems to be a symptom of the suspension setup on my car. I should manage about 14k before changing. I'll be looking at either the same again yokohama advan sport v105s or conti sport 5

I managed similar to you mdaw on my bridgestones too (14ish k). I'll be happy enough to get similar out of the Goodyears too.

Also very happy with Goodyear F1 assy 2's 225/45/17 91V, grippier, quieter, and much less crashy than the previous setup (Sport Contact 3 on the back, and Pirelli P7s on the front). Dont know what load ratings the last ones were.

I have tried the old and new Potenzas, then the F1s. The Goodyears have been the best all round tyre for me including the best rim protection on the 18" wheels. This won't stop all kerbing but will help with those times when you just brush against the kerb when nearly stopped.
