I ain't telling you thief!
Ok so far this month my Cupra is costing me a stupid amount:

Tax: £205
17mm hubcentric spacers: £59.90
8 off 45mm bolts: £14
Discs & pads all round: £225
Replacement RBF600: £19
Bosch MAF: £76.40
2 off P Zero Neros for the front: £135
MOT: £48
Spark Plugs: £14
2 off Coilpacks: £55

That's a total of over £800 on parts (no labour) and the only mod is the spacers. Bloody cars.

On the plus side my girl on 35k miles passed MOT with flying colours, phew. I've put 13k miles on her since November and she's only needed coilpacks and MAF sensor - all of which went this month, bads come in threes.

Cars. You gotta love them.

By the way, spacers made a significant improvement. Fitted them and went for a rass down my favourite A-road. More stable, better planted rear end when braking hard with some lateral g's. Felt like turn in was better too, but this could be muddled by the new tyres and the dry road today (been very wet lately). Good value for money mod. Highly recommended. I found some 17mm hubcentric spacers to maximise the match between front and back track.

Oh it looks much nicer too, those arches are filled out to the edge of the car. :D

Loko, the spacers you have...i've never used spacer so a little niave.

What made you choose 17mm spacers? Is that 17mm on either side, or 8.5mm on each side?

When looking at my car from some angles, i hate the way the rear wheels are set into the arch, plus i have it lowered a fair bit so its even more noticeable.
Think i shall get a set of spacers over the weekend, what else do i need? Just the longer wheel bolts?

Where did you get yours from?

Cheers.

hello. i purchased some 20mm spacers from ebay a little while back. they to me where a bargin. click here to see the ebay link

basically the spacers bolt on to the hub, then the wheels bolt on to the spacers. the spacers are hunbsentric as you can see, and for a very good price. plus the ebayer who sells them is top notch. i really have not had such good service in a long time.

the results of the spacers is great.. have a look yourself.

how the spacers arived once laid out.

how the wheel looked before the spacers where put on

not a very good picture but you can see the wheel is pushed out to the side from looking at the rear mud guard.

the handling is much better now and it has made a great difference for under 50 quid!!!

don't buy them..... no chamfer means they won't fit wheels with discs

Bill @ Badger5 sells some good quality ones, with good quality studs - well worth the extra

the guy i purchased these off asked if i had disks or drums, he then machined the inner of the spacers to accomodate the drums. i am pretty sure they are meant for the rear disks.

the quality of the studs is not bad either

Have a look around. I got mine off ebay but Badger here on the forum sells some nice ones too. Make sure they are hubcentric. This means that they sit on the wheel hub with a spigot which has a light interference fit. This allows the shear load to be taken by the spigot and the wheel bolts provide just clamping load. This is the right way to do it, other approaches are unsafe. Hubcentric spacers do not require the spacer to be bolted to the wheel hub.

I used 17mm spacers either side for 34mm overall rear track increase. Mk 3 Ibizas are 35mm wider on the front, hence my choice. Popular ones are 15mm or 20mm either side. Be advised if you are lowered a lot you'll need to roll the arches to fit your alloys with anything above 15mm. Don't quote me, but I think Seat Sport kits are ok on 20mm width, as they don't drop the car too much. Check with Badger, he the man! :p

Expect to pay circa £60-£80 for a nice set, alloy ones are nice as they wont rust on the hub - ball ache to take them off when you want to change discs otherwise.

The car will balance out, with more neutral handling. Off power steering when pushing the car is the most noticeable improvement, you loose the oversteer tendency.

Longer wheel bolts required to get past the spacer and into the thread in the hub. Bolts are M12 x 1.5 pitch. Standard length is 26mm on VAGs. You'll want 40 or 45mm ones depending on your final spacer width choice.

Hope this helps. I could post some pics if you want, got to give the lady a wash later today. The sun is out for the first time all week! Poxy weather.

I got exactly the same set and theres nothing wrong with them, the only slight mod i needed to do was to shave off some of the tops of the studs where they pretruded out of the spacers which meant the wheel wouldn't sit flush, used a die grinder and took mm's off and they were fine. Mine have been on for months now and no problems and as soon as i drove it i felt the difference. Mine are 20mm hubcentric ones which bolt to the hub then your wheel bolts to the spacer, got them for about £45-50. Heres some pics:

Thanks all those above who have advised me!! Really appreciate it.

Ideally i want the spacers which allow the wheel to be bolted to the spacer, only as i'd like to keep my existing locking wheel nuts and bolts.

Is there any specific name for this type as spacer? (The one which bolts to the hub then wheel bolts to the spacer).

I shall order some as soon as im confident it what im ordering lol.

No i dont think its a name but i think it has to be a 20mm spacer thats all, yeh when to see craig today and had a look at his car, its well fooked lol
