Hi all
Hope you don't mind me asking this in here given I'm asking about an issue with a Fabia vRS, but we're hitting a brick wall with this elsewhere and having had an Ibiza TDI Sport in the past I'm aware there is a lot shared between these two cars?
Basically, something appears to be making the NSF brake stick on slightly and then do next to nothing when you hit the brakes.
The caliper has been changed twice - first caliper has been inspected and found to be ok.
As well as the brake on this corner getting really hot once the car has been driven for a while, the one on the OSR is getting a bit warm as well - we believe this could be a sign of the problem passing through the diagonal link between the calipers concerned.
Sometimes it can feel like you're stamping on a block of wood when you hit the pedal, and not a lot goes on bar the the OSF throwing the ABS in if you're on greasy roads like we have at the mo - no real braking is going on though and the car is dangerous when it's like this... which is why it is now off the road other than when we're trying fixes for the problem.
Other times, you need only brush the pedal and you can feel the brakes coming on straightaway by comparison.
Someone somewhere else has suggested it might be the servo as they reckon this can show it's hand by way of the OSF and NSR calipers, but I'm not so sure how that could be?
We've just changed the NSF brake pipe, doesn't seem to have made a difference.
Basically, we're now at the point where we're concerned that we could end up keep throwing money at progressively bigger more expensive bits and still not fix the problem - I have seen a post elsewhere where someone described their Fabia had the very same problem and still had it despite them changing calipers, master cylinder, a hose and the servo, and that they'd also tried bypassing the ABS unit but still to no joy.
TIA if anyone can help on this one - it's doing our collective heads in!
