my wife's Ibiza tdi SE 100bhp has a broken spring and I've been offered a full set of springs and shocks from a mates fabia vrs (he's fitted coil overs) will they fit ok and will it lower it or make it too stiff (wife will have a fit if too hard)

Not a concise answer, but the axle weight determines the spring variant that is used, so your car is quite a bit lighter than the Fabia VRS. So I'd say that it would ride harder and sit a bit higher than it should with the correct springs

I agree the ride will probably be a bit harder. The TDI 100PD springs are slightly softer and marginally longer than the 130PD sport springs (which I believe are similar to the VRS springs), but as mentioned above, there is a difference in weight.

I've thought of putting VRS springs on my PD130, but may look for some softer like the PD100 then uprate the shocks in search of a better ride quality.
