Yep, the MK6 Golf will use the MK5 platform. Really it will be a MK5.5 Golf.

When you look at the MK1 Leon, it came out in 2000 and the Cupra got a minor change to the bumpers approx 3 years later. The MK4 Golf was the same from 1998 to 2004 when they started the MK5. Both the MK1 Leon and MK4 Golf therefore lasted 5-6 years.

As the MK2 Leon came out in 2005, it would most likely be 2010 or 2011 before its replacement came along. Until then, there is always the option of bolting on old faithful (Aero Kit) and giving it a special edition badge ;)

When will the MY2009 changes come upon us? I know Audi have just outlined their changes & I couldnt recall when SEAT announce the next wave of minor tinkering with the Leon range.

The petrol 170 TSI turbo supercharger engine out of the Golf would be nice in the Leon, as would the 4x4 system, sort of obviously :)

A re-modelled dash with a larger standard MFD is a bit of a must, the standard MFD is tiny and doesn't display enough info.

I'd have thought it would be soon, my MY08 was built around this time a year ago from what I can tell.

Oh and at the time I wasn't told it would be the new model year, but thankfully I prefer it anyway.

The larger MFD comes with the bluetooth option.

Whats the point of making a more powerful car in 2009/2010?

Petrol will be £3 a litre and Diesel will be £5 a litre....

The new Leon will be the size of a smart car with a 1 litre diesel engine that does 150 mpg (0-60 time unconfirmed due to not being able to find a stretch of road long enough to measure it.....)

That's what I'm getting at, the small mfd is a bit crap. I you're looking to buy nearly new its not easy to find bluetooth spec'd cars.

A larger one should be standard, like it is on the Golf and A3 (I think)

2.1 tdi?
245 bhp
367 torques

2.0 TDI
209ps
loads torques

Oh and the cars coming from the factories of the big 3 germans will all be lighter in the future barring the complete utter excess look at me im a rich so and so models.

The germans realise to hit emission targets etc lighter weight is one of the most effective methods.

I'm hoping they will pop the 170 common rail in the FR.

Hopefully it will be devoid of the particular dpf issues in the 170 and also should slip CO2 emissions to be sub 140 and some better mpg.

The engine when fitted in the New Octavia VRS produces 150g/km co2, so it should be lower than the Leon's current 160 but I don't think it'll be as low as 140.

Said engine is sub 140 (with quattro) in the TT and also less than 140 in the A3

April 2009. Looks like the dealers might no something after all :D
I was told over 2 years ago that SEAT were talking of bringing out a sedan based on the current(at the time) Audi A4. But I did'nt believe him.

Ibiza junior?

Mildly unstyled poverty spec Mk4? a la Clio Campus?

There was some talk about keeping the current Ibiza as a low cost Seat, especially as it comes with the 99g/co2 eco engine. I think Autocar said it would be called the Junior.

Leon facelift. Mmmm

I wonder if they'll sort out some of the weak areas.... and increase the model options and varieties in the way we want them to.

Or simply change the alloys, put on cheap looking mirrors and tinker around with minor stuff. And pump the price up a tad.
